Tiramisu Nanaimo Bars
1/3 c unsalted butter
¼ c siften unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tbsp. granulated sugar
1 tbsp kahlua liqueur
2 tsp instant espresso powder
1 egg beated
2 cups vanilla wafer or ladyfinger crumbs about 58 wafers
Topping
4 oz mascarpone or cream cheese
1/3 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 tbsp. custard powder
2 tsp. instant espresso powder
1 cup icing sugar
¾ oz. bittersweet chocolate, grated

In small heavy saucepan, combine butter, cocoa, sugar, liqueur and espresso powder; cook over low heat, stirring until melted and smooth. stir in egg; cook, stirring constantly until slightly thickened.
remove from heat; stir in crumbs. press evenly into waxed paper lined 8 inch square cake pan refrigerate until cool
Topping : in bowl, beat mascarpone with butter until smooth ; beat in custard powder and espresso powder. gradually beat in icing sugars until smooth and light. spread evenly over base; sprinkle with chocolate. refrigerate until firm . cut into small bars. makes about 24 bars.
