Fruit, Nut and Coconut Bars
1-1/4 cups all purpose flour
1/2cup granulated sugar
½ cup butter
1 egg yolk

Topping:
1 can sweetened condensed milk
2 tbsp. all purpose flour
2 tbsp. brandy or rye whisky
¾ cup shredded coconut
½ cup chopped walnuts toasted
½ cup toasted slivered almonds
½ cup candied peel
½ cup chopped glace cherries

In bowl stir flour with sugar; using pastry blender or two knives, cut in butter until in fine crumbs. with fork, stir in egg yolk just until combined. knead to form dough. press evenly into greased 13 by 9 inch cake pan . bake in 350 oven for about 20 minutes or until golden
topping : meanwhile, in bowl, stir together condensed milk, flour and brandy ; stir in coconut, walnuts, almonds, candied peel and glace cherries until combined . pour over base,
bake for 45 minutes or until golden and set. let cool completely on rack ; cut into bars. makes 48
