Brain on overload today.... :oops:

Can lunges or split squats be done with the bar in the oly/ front grip position. Would that change the emphasis on quads?

I wouldn't try it. I can't imagine the bar being too stable in that position on unilateral movements.

the bar stayed in position. I tried it :D :oops:

it kept my knee from hurting.

i knew i could hold the bar, just didnt know if it was effective?

I would see no reason why not if you can hold the bar, but I'm not too sure of that.
