I understand the reasoning for warmups. I have a set type of warmup for exercises that I do. however, I am wondering about cool downs. Why is that important? Won't your body naturally cool down on it's own if you don't do anymore strenuous exercises? Do you need a specific cool down for whatever exercises you do?
My cool down is my walk to my car.

Awesome. That has become my cool down. It just didn't seem as important to me as the warmup. Thanks!

:funny:
don't you need your HR to go back to more normal before you sit for a while? or is this only for hard cardio? I thought the abrupt stoppage of intensity was "bad" for your heart?

Why?
It's not like your heart just automatically drops to resting levels once you start resting.
Walking to my car is akin to walking on a treadmill. It's a cool down. Heart rate returns to normal.
Doesn't your heart rate return to normal when you sit down?
i dunno i thought i heard of a soccer player who died, b/c he sat right after and had a heart attack b/c all of the blood pooled into his extremities or something...maybe my coaches were just trying to scare us, Lol
