I joined in the beginning but didn't start posting for a year. That is when I was talking with Ileen about wanting a good fitness site and started reading. Reading naturally led to posting because I am unable to lurk.

Somehow stumbled over from another site that I had been on for about 2 years.

Very new here but I can tell a big difference already. Better attitudes and supportive personalities and frankly just more "normal" people IMHO. :bannana:

Hello all. I am new to this forum. I was on a previous forum (Ms. Fit) but they no longer have an operating forum. Last summer, I entered the Ms. Fit Transformation Challenge, and reduced by body fat from 24% to 16.1% by the time the challenge ended. Unfortunately, I did not place or anything, and in the process I lost so much weight that I did not even look good even though for the first time ever you could see some muscle definition. However, you could also see my bones so that did not work out. Anyways, since then I have gradually put weight on (not good weight), and my body fat is currently about 21%, which is good considering I'm 49 years old, and have had 5 kids. However, my eating is atrocious. It's a vicious cycle - eating clean for a couple of days, then bingeing for an entire evening. I seem to be stuck on this cycle. I think the only thing that keeps me at least in decent shape is that I still workout every day.

Anyhow, the point in joining this forum is twofold: to get some motivation for my eating and inspiration for some new goals. So, if anyone has anything to add or inspire, please do so. Could use all the help I can get. Thanks!!

Susan

Around from the beginning. Following Erik around starting back at o2!

This evolution has taken me through my second and third pregnancies, training for my first competition, and general overhaul of my lifestyle, attititude, and approach to fitness.

It's been a process, but I don't believe I would have learned more anywhere else!
And watching the journey of the members on here would motivate the most unhealthy!

I also found this site from the O2 forums. I never posted there, but first read about HIIT and tons of other useful posts that used to be there. I registered here, but never posted until recently. Just trying to get over my shyness, I guess.
I never really had a good reason to post over on the O2 boards.

You are not allowed to watch the Auburn/Alabama game sitting down. Even if you are at home, you must stand up. You are also required to yell at least once every 7 minutes.

7 min? Scott doesn't follow that rule. I think it is more like every 3. Erik(Thunder) and Laura were both like this  when they watched the Auburn vs AL game with us. I know they thought we were insane.

So I joined EP...and followed the progression.

Hi all,
I found this site through another site, low carb friends, and was reading the success story of a member there, so decided to check out LBF. I'd have to say I am at a point of being very discouraged at doing the same things and seeing no results!!!! So here I am, hoping to find some answers as to what I might be doing wrong! First off, I will tell you a bit about me.....I am a 55 year old, post surgical menopause 18 years ago, on hormone therapy (estrogen/testosterone), no children. I have been doing low carb off and on for a lot of years and exercising (treadmill, callanetics, weight lifting at home). Not to say I don't fall off the wagon and go on junk food binges, I do!!!! because I get discouraged. In looking back on my weight logs, my highest weight was 160. I am only 5'2". Going on Atkins, I did manage to lose down to 130. Over the years it has creeped back up to 145-150....and no matter what I do, it's the same 3-4 pounds that I keep gaining and losing... I realize I am not getting any younger and I understand the importance of maintaing muscle and losing body fat....and from what I am learning, perhaps I have been doing too many reps and not enough weight!!! So anyways, long story short, or short story long, that's why I'm here, hoping to find some answers as to how I can start seeing some positive results! So any suggestions are gladly welcome, because at this point, I'm wandering aimlessy, and that includes grabbing things to eat that I shouldn't!!!!

Start a journal and that way you can keep track of all your feed back or feel free to ask questions.

Thanks Meechel! I think it was a great choice too. :)

I have only been working with coaches for less than a year and have tried 3 so far (Erik being the third). I must say Erik is by-far the most informative and helpful. He is straight-forward, no nonsense and he has a world of knowledge to back up his reasons for doing things. I truly love it. It's a lot of info to take in at first (when you're my age, things don't get absorbed into the brain quite as quickly - LOL!), but once I have it down I know it will be the best decision I have made for this lifestyle.

You can certainly tell Erik LOVES what he does as it shows. I don't know how he does it. ;)

I found out about this site through Noel Clark. I'm really, really excited about finding this place. My training since July has been really, really going good too. Started at 256 lbs and down to 236. I've been in neverland working really hard w/ work, being a spouse (that's the good stuff) and being a parent. Now, though, somewhat a little wiser, know how to balance things better in order to compete in 12 to 24 months. I don't think I've ever been more passionate. Plus, this site truly appears to be devoted to bodybuilding, positive support, networking and encouragement.

Thank you again.

Hi everyone,
I just joined the LBF & have also hired Erik. I heard about LB from the Jenny Lynn site...someone was 'showing off' Noel Clarks video...I was amazed. I followed Noel to LB. I met Noel while competing in Chicago in June, very nice person. We did not get a chance to chat too long but I liked her style.
I have been trained by a variety of trainers since I began figure competitions (November 2005).
After listening to all of you on this site & the few emails I received from Erik I am so impressed with the kindness, knowledge & 'family-type atmosphere....I think I am going to be sorry I didn't know about Erik earlier in my competition career.
My primary purpose is to see how I can eat HEALTHY with a balance of food (what a concept) while growing muscle. I am 46 yrs old & 'Uncle' Erik has his work cut out for him.
Looking forward to getting to know all of you!

Hello!

I actually found Erik and LBF through Bodybuilding.com under a thread for good nutritionists - he was the only one that seemed genuine in actually improving my training and nutrition. It was also exciting to know that I would not have to live on asparagus and orange roughy to get into contest physique. Excited to be here!!

You both will love working with him and he is great about keeping variety in your diet and not killing you with lots of cardio! He is one of the few like that! :wigging:

I couldn't believe how awesome my menu was!! Soo much variety! YAY! Then i looked at the cardio portion and was stoked!! A Previous trainer/nutritionist had me doing 45 mins 2x a day 5 days a week, and 45 mins for the other 2days. The 2nd session was 45 mins of intervals .. I did them but wow i had no life and was wiped out! Also i didn't get to choose the foods I liked, but i just ate his menu anyways.

YAY for ERIK!!!:)

I thought this was "normal" and thats what It takes to get a lean body ha.. He's very well known so I figured it was right. But for my sanity and body I think it had other ideas ..lol I really wonder if all that isn't the reason for my thyroid/cortisol get all messed up! Thankfully my thyroid came back to life and i dont have to take meds!

I can actually deal with the sweet potatos (one of my favorite foods), but eating asparagus EVERYDAY was getting annoying - bleh. Now I am eating fruit at least once a day along with peanut butter... the best part is that I am looking better than when I was eating fish and asparagus. Funny how that works out.

Hey Michelle

Ya, its only been 3 weeks and love my workout/diet plan - now I look forward to my workouts which I have not really felt over the past few months. I trained with someone else for 2 months and was craving really REALLY bad foods (doughnuts, pizza, cheeseburgers, etc). That was not even a precontest diet, so I could not imagine what would happen if I follow a plan like that.

I joined back in the summer, but only got back in to it now. Found this site while searching for low fat brownies and the omega3/omega6 soya issue.
