View Full Version : So I'm eating spoonfuls of peanut butter from the jar

I just got back from the doctors and apparently my cold sore (from the other post) has now moved inside my mouth and is pretty much covered the entire area. It is excrutiatingly painful to eat right now and it looks like this could potentially last for up to 2-4 weeks (praying it's over in a week...praying!).
So, today the only thing I could think of eating that wouldn't hurt was peanut butter since it's soft and I can press it to the roof of my mouth so it doesn't touch the sides at all (where the problem is).
I bought some yogurt too since I should be able to tolerate that, and cottage cheese is okay as well. I tried canned tuna and that is definitely not happening.
So, how bad would it be if my diet for the next two to four weeks (assuming it stays that long) is pretty much peanut butter, protein shakes, cottage cheese, and yogurt?
I'm about to try some super soggy veggies and see if I can get them down but I'm scared at this point.

JMO, but just concentrate on your portions still...and on feeling better. Nothing worse than being sick/hurt and still stressing to stick on a diet.
Just get better! That's the most important thing when you are sick.
Hope it is gone, soon!!

Thanks for the replies...yah, getting better is definitely the priority. I guess I am lucky in I can still workout since it's just a super sore mouth area, unlike the flue or something (at this point anyway). Hopefully the peanut butter will be calorie dense enough to keep my energy levels up there. So far it's okay, I think I had about 10 tbsp yesterday. :p

Yeah, I had mono this summer and was out of commission for both diet and exercise...it sucked!

Aside from being drained w/ the lower carb intake, I see no problem w/ it.
Oh that sucks- sorry you're in so much pain. :( I get cold sores too and I can't imagine how painful it would be to have one all over my mouth!
Maybe you can blend the cottage cheese in the blender with oats/berries for some extra carbs?

That's a good idea.
You could also try cooking your veggies in some broth and whizzing them through the blender with some cottage cheese or yogourt to make potages.

This is not a bad idea and what I might have to do. I'm trying to eat super small pieces of broccoli and cauliflower tonight and am about to give up. Tomorrow will be day three on Valtrex so with any luck some of the pain will be residing.
The ones on my face are starting to look noticeably better now that they're moisturize and the scabs are mostly off, so that's good to.
