vitamin C
vitamin E
magnesium
Creatine
fish oils
PP
For dieting
multivitamin
vitamin C
vitamin E
magnesium
Fish oils
PP
? Should I be taking some type of fat burner or something here or are they bullshit. Hoodia or something?
Is there anything else I need? Any thing else recommended? Something out there that works well for you for either goal? Just checking.
I also take synthroid for my thyroid. And Effexor for antidepressant so I also wonder if there is anything I should not take because of these medications?
Thanks. DJ

You don't technically need them. EC can help with appetite issues and can help prevent the drop in SNS activity that typically accompanies low calorie dieting.
Of course, there are the stimulatory 'benefits' as well.

Would E/C be bad for someone on Synthroid?
Where do you buy it and what brand? I probably would not use it when dieting but just curious about it.

The thyroid experts would probably have more personal experience with that question.
My personal take would be to avoid it, but that's just my overly cautious self.
Perhaps Ileen et al will comment.
I take creatine while dieting

Do you? Is it helpful when dieting? I never thought of that.

I'd ask your phamacist about any interaction between those meds. I've never been on anti'd (tho god knows how many stupid docs tried to put me on them because they dont know the symptoms of thyroid disease. </end rant)
Taking the anit d's out of it Being UNDERmedicated it might help when dieting for energy. I didnt find it did much for me that N-Acetyl Tryosine didnt. I felt the Tryosine was as effective as others claimed E to be without the stimulant effect and I didnt use extra C with it.
My friend Wendy is seeing a new doc (anti aging/hormones) that puts many of his patients on D-ribose. I've not tried it yet but im looking into it. It's supposedly supposed to be better than Creatine. See here: http://www.bodybuildingforyou.com/supplements-reviews/d-ribose-supplements.htm
When my labs are upper range and Im optimized, i find *I* cant tolerate a lot of stimulants.
What is EC?

Thought you couldn't get ephederine anymore...
Yes, you can. You can get over the counter in smaller doses...or you can order it on-line.

Ephederine/ caffeine
Is this an appetite suppressant? I'm having a hard time with always being hungry.

It does have a fairly strong anorectic effect, yes.

to be honest...I would try to start your diet without it. And then see if you are needing it.
What would you suggest?
Well, I'd first suggest you read the label of any ephedrine product very carefully before using it. Each bottle has a list of contraindications that you need to check yourself against.
If after reading that, you see nothing that applies to you, then start with a small dosage to assess tolerance (there is a stimulatory effect that varies from one end of the spectrum to the other in terms of significance).
The research supported dose for EC supplementation was a 10:1 ratio of caffeine to ephedrine with the standard dosing protocol being 200mg anhydrous caffeine to 20mg ephedrine hydrochloride. (taken up to 3x/day).
Should you choose to use EC, assess tolerance, start with a small dose, and up your dosage as your body allows you to.
Does L-tyrosine/ caffeine do the same thing as e/c?

When I ordered from BB.com they gave me this

I'm always a little nervous to try things, but it says this is a fat burner?

Meh. Too many non-essential excipients in it.
No, it does not.
Would you mind telling me what the differences are?

You are just looking for a "fat burner"?
Or are you looking for Ephedrine?
There are tons out here. How do you pick?
Look for two separate products.
1. 200mg caffeine pills
2. 8mg ephedrine hydrochloride pills
Is there a huge difference between Ephedrine hydrochloride and Ephedrine Sulfate? My Bronkaid is the sulfate, but I have some hydrochloride ones as well. I've never really been able to tell any difference between the two.

It doesnt have the appepite suprressant that E has. *For me*, it gave me some clarity and energy. I wasnt looking for the app part, never needed it.
Erik good to know on the D-ribose.

One is ephedrine bonded to hydrochloric acid and one is ephedrine bonded to sulphuric acid. I *think* that the sulphuric acid has a higher molecular weight so per unit mg dosage the HCl version would supply more ephedrine than it's sulphate counterpart. I just don't know if it's a significant difference or not (I'd have to look it up).
I think the sulphate version might have a quicker onset of action as well.

In my experience I think that's true. When I take the Bronkaid it seems to work faster and it's very obvious when it's starting to work. With the HCL, it's more of a gradual thing.

Ephedrine HCl is approximately 82% ephedrine by weight.
Ephedrine sulfate is approximately 77% ephedrine by weight.
25 mg ephedrine HCl = 20.5 mg ephedrine
25 mg ephedrine sulfate = 19.25 mg ephedrine
I'm reading and it says that the sulfate hits the system quicker but it doesn't last as long.
I'm probably reading garbage.

How the heck do you guys get through your hunger? For me it's the opposite. I went to the gym this morning not even wanting to do my cardio and I managed to pull a 45 minute run out my butt

For me EC does the trick when I'm eating really low calorie. It has a very strong appetite suppressant effect on me, more so than giving me energy. Other's have stated that the effect is minimal with them. I guess it just depends on the individual.
I'm never hungry. I eat out of boredom, not because I'm hungry, so for me if I focus it's easy.

I can eat in any situation..hunger, boredom, when I'm happy, when I'm sad..doesn't really phase me. I just love food. I'm an equal opportunity eater. :brava: It's no easier for me when I'm focused or when I'm distracted. It's always something that I have to work at. The only difference now and from a year ago is that I've learned to control it better.

All day I'm busy and I'm fine. I can go out with friends and work and have no problem. Like today, I went to the movies and my everyone else got popcorn and candy and I got a diet pepsi. But when I get home and don't have much to do I start to think about food too much and it's like a battle in my head. I'll be thinking "Do I want another bowl of oatmeal? No don't eat it, you'll be fine....But it won't hurt."

I like chocolate but it has to be in the right form. Chocolate chips are too hard and they just roll around in your mouth. I don't care for M & M's for that very reason.

Nonsense.
Ribose trumping creatine never panned out.I have been taking d-ribose for about 3 weeks. It is recommended by Dr. Teitelbaum in the book From Fatigued to Fantastic as a treatment for treat chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia (I was recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia.). I have noticed less of the "top layer" of burning & pain, waking up feeling less hungover and I have had less "brainfog." Unfortunately with all that I still feel like crap. It is supposed to help with energy, too, but I have untreated sleep apnea and doubt I'll ever have any energy until that is treated. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y46/deborr/Smilies/Signs/thsigh-1.gif
When I was researching the whole creatine suggestion did not make any sense. What did show in studies is that it helps with recovery in athletes. I wondered why I hadn't heard more about that? It sounded like it might be a good post workout supplement?

The VasoPro I got from BB.com is Ephedrine Hydrochloride
Primatene tabs are hcl.
And speaking of chocolate chips....butterscotch chips and peanut butter chips are my fave. Heck, throw 'em all together, and you've got a great recipe for a sugar coma....at least the way I eat them.
