When is the best time to stop eating for the day? Should it be so many hrs before bed? Does it matter if you eat certain things? I'm trying to lean out, but I don't want to stop so early that I wake up starving.
Thanks

Telling you to stop eating at a certain time in the evening is indeed a myth. Just because you eat something closer to bedtime doesn't mean that it will automatically turn into bodyfat. What matters at the end of the day is the number of calories you ingested (and whether you created a caloric deficit or caloric surplus).

I believe this myth about not eating in the evening is a 'trick' used by many mainstream diet programs to prevent people for binging in the evenings. Most people tend to get the munchies in the evening while watching TV. Tell people that they are not allowed to eat past a certain time and they will automatically reduce their caloric intake (by not eating junk in front of the TV). For someone watching his/her caloric intake, it is irrelevant.

I usually have my last meal 30 minutes or so before going to bed. I have never had any problems getting lean, including when prepping for shows.

Usually near bed time.

You don't have to stop eating after any certain time. (ie. no food after 7pm or whatever other nonsense they preach out there).

Yep, it doesn't matter how late you eat, just as long as everything fits into your macros. I eat just before I crash most nights!

This is actually a good question. You read this myth a lot.

Hmm... I thought I just posted in this thread about 10 min ago. Maybe I forgot to 'submit'?
I eat my last meal around 10.30 pm (about 30 min before bed). I did that even during contest prep last year with no adverse effects. ;)

I usually fall asleep with a half eaten bag of chips in my hands :chairshot:

Actually, last food is about 90 mins before bed for me.

So if you eat a meal/snack at midnight, which days macros does it go toward. :uhuh:

If I do that before I actually go to bed for the night, I count it for the day that just ended.

I'm typically eating oatmeal sitting in my bed. It's like my late night snack.

The only reason I dont eat RIGHT before laying down in bed is for digestion purposes. Not because I'll store it as fat. Otherwise, I eat at least an hour before.
