I have these in my workout and I wanted to make sure I do them correctly. I saw the vid of marybeth in the pic/vid section. Was she doing them correctly? I'd like to know so I don't make HUGE A$$ of myself.
:dope:
Thanks!! :)

You won't make an ass out of yourself! Hell, I did it.
Noel told me to make sure that I keep my weight on my heels and I try to do that. And slightly bend your knees when you reach thru really far. It's the pull thru where you squeeze the crap out of your butt and hams.

Do you notice a difference when doing this exercise? I'm trying to add new things to my routine, but don't know if I can handle people staring. I know it's a crappy excuse :baby:

Thanks. I saw that but I never saw if they said yes or no as to your form LOL. I will make an ass out of myslef, it's what I'm good at. Thank god they have the machine I need for them in this room in the back, out of the main with mirrors on all sides. The plus is I can really see my form, downside I have to look at myself LOL. Plus I have never seen anyone do them in my gym so I'm sure if I had to be in the main room I'd be quite a spectical. They would be :laughatyou:

You're a little rock, Carolyn! People will be doing this because you are! My legs need all the help you can get. My butt and hammies feel it.
My tip would be to use the handle grip, not the rope. easier to hold onto.

Why are people always so concerned with what they look like when doing pullthroughs? Who cares what a bunch of idiots who don't know how to train properly in the first place think? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v614/montagnu/smiles%20and%20laughter%20smilies/hamsterazn.gif

I think though sometimes if you aren't comfortable about certain movements, you can feel akward at first.

I cared a little, cuz I felt like a moron doing this particular movement, but I just reminded myself of what you just said while I was doing them. I kept going over in my head, this is effective training, my physique has changed more then anybody here in my gym that I've seen in the last yr. That kept me going. Now I basically couldn't care less. I feel more embarrassed for the exhibitionist that grunt and carry on loudly in the gym.

I used to do these using the straight bar, but then I never understood why it was called 'pullthrough' since all that was pulling 'through' was the cable. After seeing MB in the video, what a difference using the handle. I was doing them at the gym the other day and one of the newer members made a comment. Two more people stopped and looked and then they all started asking about it. One of the veteran members said something about "you're always coming up with the best exercises!" Most of them I've learned about on here!!
. Now I basically could care less.

That's what I was worried about. I wasn't sure if I was doing them right so I felt so awkward. But I did them, still not quite sure if I was doing them right.

I've never felt awkward doing anything "weird," and that includes board presses.
I can just imagine what all the fools at the gym think when they see me with 2x4s strapped to my chest.
