View Full Version : Staying on track during the weekend

I find it much easier to stay with my diet during the week than on the weekend. Particularly because it seems as though all of my friends in school do not have the same goals as me and continually want to go out. I feel so in control and then all of a sudden it’s like I’ve lost it to the point of a binge. I’ve done a lot of thinking and have decided that in order to accomplish this, I am definitely going to have to make some changes. How do you deal with this?

It comes down to a decision. How bad do you want it. There are always going to be people who have different goals than you in your life. You have to decide that you aren't going to let what they do effect what you do. PLAN, PREPARE....and then plan some more. Make up your mind that you are going to stay on track during weekends NO MATTER WHAT. :)

plan your meals. Allow a free meal on the weekend when you feel like you need the break. Take food with you if you out and about.

Its an ajustment if you arent used to it. It will slowly become a lifestyle once you've started to make it a habit. :)

What are some of the ways you guys plan? I've been using Fitday (thanks Blondell), but was curious if you had any other tips. I'm really struggling to keep my macros balanced

The best thing you can do if you can handle it, is eat the same things every day. Find something that works and then just eat it all the time. It's been a blessing for me. I use my cheats and refeeds for variety

Yeah...that's pretty much what I've read on this site. O.k....next question:

Cheat and refeeds are what exactly. I mean besides the obvious more food...

Info on refeeds is in this sticky... http://leanbodiesfitness.com/showthread.php?t=10272

Cheats are just that--meals where you eat whatever you want. They do not serve physiological purposes in the way that refeeds d(restoring hormones etc), but the psychological break that they offer may help to keep on track with dieting.

IMO eating whatever you want is not such a great idea. A "cheat" meal should be something you really enjoy, and tend to crave. It should still be within reason.

Eat a serving of the ice cream, not the entire pint. Or have the cheeseburger, but skip the fries and cheesecake.

THANK YOU! That was great...now if I could just find the alcohol I need for my macros (ha-ha)

I'm going to print that out and carry it in my handy-dandy LBF workout binder

Hi Cass,
Good morning! What you’re saying makes perfect sense. I still need to get my macros in line before I really start to worry about any of this, but I love hearing how people manipulate their diets and workouts to reach their personal goals.

Does one spit this out or just avoid it completely? :p

Wise words for sure! I say you gotta attach some emotions to your goals and really know it is more then just lose 10lbs or whatever.

My goals have a lot to do with my daughter and that keeps me lazer focused. :dumbbells:

I like what Cass said...something you have been craving but also Erik has a good 90% rule on his blog you should read about.

I usually split something with my dd or just eat half and give her the other half later in the day.

It takes control but when your "why" is strong enough having control is not that hard.

I don't remember who said it but I sure think of it sometimes.....It IS JUST food.

It is against the law, to spit homemade cheesecake.

This weekend my husband and I are going out to dinner for Valentine's day and I picked Chili's because I can look at the menu online. I've already decided what I'm going to order even before I walk into the resturaunt. I'll take the calories in the meal and make it fit into my macros for that day.

It definitely helps to go in with a game plan. That way your mind is set.

Awesome post! You have to remember that while they want to go out and eat whatever they want, eventually it's going to catch up to them. You have to make the DECISION to stay the course. Ask yourself what's more important: Reaching your goals or enjoying food for 10 minutes (and dealing with the guilt afterwards).

You could also just plan a cheat meal on Saturday nights. It may help you stay on track the rest of the weekend.

I do this as well. I look up the menu online and plan exactly what I'm going to eat, so I can enjoy myself while I'm out, yet not go off plan.
