Just curious what others are using for their multi-vitamin. I currently use Life Force Bio-Align multi without iron but need to re-order and thought I'd see what others are using.

I take GNC's Women's Ultra Mega-- the regular kind, with iron.

Like someone above mentioned, is there a specific reason that a lot of people seem to take multis without iron?

Yeh why not? I think I assumed you recommended them because that is what my expectations were (meaning I thought I had actually read on my plan...).

For those of you wondering why some of us take vitamins without iron...if you're not getting the monthly girly thing, it's not necessary, and possibly detramintal. So many foods are iron fortified, and if you're not losing it, it's easy to build up enough to increase heart attack risk.
I'm taking Solgar right now. And a vegetable supp...which is probably overdoing it, but I so rarely remember to take both on the same day that I doubt I'm losing much.

Ahh, thanks! I was kind of thinking that might be why, but wasn't totally sure.

I wonder how this comes into play for months that I skip my period (with monophasic BCP), or if it matters since it's still a relatively short time.

Another reason some don't take iron in the multi is some doctors feel that it masks test results. You want your test results to show whether your low iron or ferritin or not before taking additional iron.

Iron also inhibits calcium absorption, so check your multis. If you take additional calcium, do NOT take it with your regular multi if it has iron in it.

The only vitamin I take is stresstabs with iron - I just started them up as I was feeling a bit burned out and run down (working lots, running around and taking care of my son as a single parent, dating and getting in regular workouts). I notice stress on my skin (breakouts) and how I feel. Now am paying more attention to getting better sleep etc - its helping

I take mine with water. Seems .25tsp of Splenda makes it better...any more makes it ick. Much too flavourful for me to put into my shakes and enjoy...although the guy who sold me the stuff says he likes his that way

What makes Greens+ great? Is it as good as having veggies or is it because alot of people don't eat enough veggies?

Minou
07-07-2006, 02:01 PM
I don't take a multi. I do Greens+ in a shake. At first it tasted like seaweed, but now that I'm used to it, I love it. I take it because by the time I get the vegetables into my body (shipping, sitting in the grocery store etc...) I wonder how many nutrients have been lost. I am proud to say that I have just grown my first garden, and you can really tell the difference in taste!!!
