Does it matter how many cals are in each meal, as long as the total end result is the right amount for the day? Did that make sense????Wow... Ok so I have almost 200 cals per meal till the last meal of the day...500 cals! Is it too much? 5 meals in a day. Is this ok? My last meal is a lovely chicken salad with veggies and my homemade tahini dressing. So it adds up to about 500 cals. Is it bad to do this or do you think I can get results with this? Lose weight and possibly build muscle is my goal. I finally upped my weights for lifting to about 30 lbs. as opposed to 5 and 10 lbs. And of course my kind-of HIIT, or what ever it is. Again I am 5 foot 2 inches, 130 lbs. Want to get down to about 120, with muscle added of course.

Hey, if it's working for you keep at it! Consistency is the key.

Technically no. End of day totals are what is most important.

Are you making progress with this regimen?

Well, I do make progress...until I eat bad, and binge. Then progress stops and I have to start all over again. It's hard for me to get back on track. But once I get back on track I am loving it. But then I think maybe I am doing somthing wrong. And that causes me to binge??? It is probably all me and my, "I need something for me right now." I love the feeling of eating good though. So really I am probably just making progess on the weight that I gain from the days of binging.... I think I just figured that out! I never really ever break 125 lbs. Annoying!!!!!!!!!!!!

Undereating perhaps? Overdoing the SS?

Can I offer a few suggestions? prefacing my comments with the fact that I am no expert but I have been there and done that. You need to journal your food and see how much and what macros you are taking in over the course of the day. In my case I was undereating in the morning saving up for the night and eating too much carbs and not enough protein and healthy fats. My coach helped me to journal and then showed me what was going on. Honestly if you eat the mini-meals and get in enough protein and fat they will satisfy you and you will find you don't need to save up cals for the evening and that you aren't all of sudden feeling like you need to binge. Again just a thought :)

Probably the exercise. I tend to keep going even when I know I should stop. I just think it will make me lose weight faster. Which I am sure isn't true.

The more-is-better philosophy only works up to a point, and then it becomes a matter of adding more volume with no good rhyme or reason for doing so. Thinko of it as 'junk volume'. At that point, it's counterproductive.
Lots of SS will tend to make you more hungry.

You know, I think I may be skimping on fats. I do remember Thunder saying I need fats, a while back. I have my fish oils during the day, and my tahini @ night. But fat takes up too much of your cals!!! But I do have 1-2 tbsp. of the tahini, mixed with lemon, apple cider vinegar and things.

I really do understand where you are coming from in terms of the fats. Trust me!! Try it - you will be soo surprised. A little fat will truly go a long way.
THere are so many nice nuts out there - almonds, walnuts, etc. that are rich in healthy fats. I find 14-g almonds (about 12 almonds) is really filling an it adds only about 100 calories. If you suck on them and eat them slowly with liquid you will be surprised how full you feel and how satisfied.
Try a tsp of olive oil on your veggies - really tasty and again won't cost you too much calorie-wise.
Lastly fish oil: try coromega fish oil supplements come in lemon-lime or orange-chocolate - totally yummy (2 -g fish oil = 20 calories)

Then are those who are on the anti-fat, anti-meat bandwagon. It's the whole "saturated fats will kill you" myth.

If you're eating 200 cals per mealx4 meals per day plus 500 cals at your last meal, that's gives you 1300 calories, which is 10 cals per lb. of BW. That may be too low and may explain why you binge out.
The recommended starting point for fat loss cals is BWx12, which means 1560 cals for you.
You also have to realize that losing fat and gaining muscle at the same time isn't possible, except under special circumstances, as the former requires you eat at a deficit and the latter requires you eat at a surplus.
You need to focus on one goal at a time.

2 tbsp. of tahini have 180 cals. Unless you're eating a boatload of chicken, your last meal doesn't contain 500 cals.
So you're eating even less than 1300 cals per day.
Do you count your fish oil caps in your totals?

Yes, I add in my fish oils too. My dinner is between 6-8 ounces of chicken the 2 tbsp. of tahini, lettuce, celery, parsley, tomatoes, in a big big bowl. Then the lemon, lime, vinegar, and spices. So the chicken is at least 250 cals if not more right? and then all the veggies and liquids I figure make up another 70,80,90 cals. So there is my 500. Am I right? I take my fish oils with my other meal as a fat. Two or three gels at a time. I thought 1500 would be maintenance for me?
My sister is kind-of doing atkins. Wow she lost a ton of weight and she lives on meat and fat. She puts tons of butter on her 3-4 beef patties (at a time). Or on her 3-4 large pieces of steak. I don't like meat that much, and I am really not a fan of fats.

Really? That's a lot. 54-72g of protein in one sitting right there.

Oh no... Too much!!!!??? Well sometimes I cut up my own... thats about 6 oz. and then sometimes I use these organic chicken cans that say 4 ounces a can. I use two, but I drain them, so it isn't exactly 8 ounces. I guess I could use less. I just love to fill up @ night. I used to have about 4 ounces. But everyone said I wasn't eating enough. It's annoying when I get drilled at work. I know who cares what they think.

I weigh 204lbs and 4 oz is my biggest serving portion! I would spread the protien out more thru out the day and have 4oz in that dinner portion.

Maintenance is BWx15. That's around 2000 cals for you.
You can effectively ignore including green veggies in your totals, unless you're eating a boatload, which is pretty hard to do with green veggies.
The liquids you mention here are pretty much calorie free.
You really are not eating enough.

I usually tell people who complain about getting grilled by their colleagues about their eating habits that they shouldn't care, but in this case, I agree with them.

Fresh or frozen, it makes no difference! My stomach is a bottomless pit
I cook my veggies differently everyday. Sometimes I steam then, sometimes I stirfry them, sometimes I bake them, sometimes I grill them....

unfortunately, tho i prefer it raw, *i* cant eat much of it raw, it binds my thyroid meds. I can only have a wee bit that way.

I spray it with butter flavor cooking spray, sprinkle some salt and stick it in the oven until it is browned. I do it with cauliflower a lot too
