Okay, I've been working out here now for about 4 months. I've actually stuck to it this time. In the past year I had gained about 15 lbs, so it was time to get serious.

Since I've started working out and watching my calories, I have lost about 12 inches to date. Although, the scale has not moved, well maybe 1 lb. Now, if my body continues to move in the right direction and the scale doesn't budge, I'm fine with that. I just want to make sure that this is normal. That I'm in the right direction.

I feel I have lbs. to lose because of the weight gain. Is it possible to still decrease in size but have the scale not change? I know that I've read that only in certain circumstances can you gain muscle while in a calorie deficit. I definitely feel as if I'm gaining muscle, my arms and legs are more solid. Is that why the scale isn't budging?

Maybe I should just put the damn scale away.

This should be a sticky.

If you are losing inches don't worry about what the scale says. :)

Oh geez, dont make it a sticky!

I just needed some reassurance. Just wanted to make sure I'm not doing something wrong. Damn scales, they get me everytime.

If they get ya everytime, why do you still rely so heavily on them?

I actually dont. I've only stepped on it once in the past month. I just had to ask, it makes me feel better.

I have a similar problem. The scale isn't budging, but also I am not losing inches. BUT I look better, more firm, leaner looking...but it's still frustrating not to be losing inches. I am 5'5" and the scale hasn't moved from 125lbs. My waist is still 26.75 inches and hips still 36.5 inches, the same as they were a couple of months ago.

I am wondering, is it possible to lose body fat but still not lose inches???? This is really concerning me, so if someone could answer that I would be grateful.

Don't freak out over the scale- pay attention to how your clothes are fitting, what you look like in the mirror and the inches you are losing.

If I based my results on the scale I would have killed myself a long time ago. :suicide:

I'm 5'3 and before I started lifting weights I weighted 114 pds, now 9 yrs later I weight in at 140 pds but my measurements are the exact same as when I weighed less.

Plus I look a hell of alot better now then when I was skinny fat!!! :train:

I'm guessing your body doesn't have too many inches to lose at that height/weight and with those tiny measurements you probably won't get smaller - just more muscular/less "fat".

That is a different situation than the original poster. If you have not lost inches or pounds after months then, despite thinking you look a bit leaner, you should probably implement some changes.
