I have really dry hands and cannot seem to find a good hand cream for relief. The last cream I used was Gold Bond and it worked ok, but it doesn't seem to last after one hand washing. That's another thing...I am constantly washing my hands. Do you have any recommendations on a really good, thick hand cream? TIA

I use Aveeno in a jar. Looks like this: http://www.aveeno.com/detailAction.do?id=1365 I got it at Wal-Mart for 9 bucks and change. I have tried everything and that seems to work the best.

BTW, Aveeno does have it's own hand cream especially for hands.

The other thing you could do is slather Vaseline on your hands and put your hands in gloves (you can get them at Bed Bath & Beyond) and sleep with them on at night. It's messy but your hands will be very soft.

Good Luck!

I'm a little OCD about washing my hands so I'm always looking for good hand cream. I like Neutrogena Hand Cream, you only need a little bit so the tube lasts forever. I use that at night, and during the day, Nexcare Advanced Skin Cream. It seems to last through hand washings, though I reapply after each scrub anyway. If you can't find it on the lotion aisle, it will be with first aid.

I worked as a hairdresser for 14 years so I tried everything for my hands. My doctor recommended Eucerin cream, which is a good, thick, greasy cream. It works well. But, most of my hairdresser friends swear by BagBalm. It's hard-core and works really well.

Avon's Silicone Glove is pretty thick and lasts quite a while. That's what I use. :)

Anyone heard of Udderly Smooth Udder Cream (http://www.uddercream.com/products.html)? It was originally used by dairy farmers to keep udders in "good condition." Whatever that means.

Don't let the original purpose scare you. It's good stuff. Trader Joe's stocks it as do Wal-mart, Target and most pharmacy stores.

Oh and this stuff is heavy, lasts a good while.

Yeup, good old fashioned "bag balm" . . .that's what I have to resort to sometimes when my hands get too chapped. Forget all the name brand stuff, the udder balm works wonders. :)

I love AquaMantel (I believe that's the spelling). You can get it from the dermatologist or the pharmacist. Ni precription needed. It cleared my dry hands in 2 days.

I use a yummy smelling "almond cherry" thick hand cream by Burt's Bees. It really softens your hands up- I wear it at night before I go to bed because it's pretty greasy.

:( I bought the Neutrogena Hand Cream (to keep in my purse) as well as the udder cream. My hands are still so, so dry. I got so desperate that I put Vaseline on to help but that's way too greasy. I'm going to try the AquaMantel and maybe the Burt's Bees. I wonder what the heck is going on? My hands have never, ever been this dry! It's driving me crazy

do you have a feed/farm store near? my dad's hands literally split open every winter some and get infected. started using "utter cream/lotion/butter" and it stopped.

I'm a little late on this, but Avon's Silicon Glove hand cream is really good. I just came across it through a free sample and I love it. It keeps hands soft for a long time.

I've also heard that Udder Cream is good, too.

I used to have really dry skin, but I started using mango butter about a year ago and it keeps me moisturized forever. I buy it at early bird solutions (http://www.earlybirdsolutions.com)

Don't know if someone posted this already because I was too lazy to read through the whole thread...

Hemp cream from the Bodyshop. I tried EVERYTHING else before discovering that stuff. It is the best around!

My favorite is Le Couvent des Minimes Gardener's Hand Healer. You can get it at Bath and Body Works stores. Seriously, all I do when I work there is play with lotions and stuff and it's the best ever. Also, use some sort of exfoliant occasionally and slather on the hand cream after that.

Here's the link...they sell little travel tubes for like $5 that you can try. http://www.bathandbodyworks.com/product/in...rentPage=family (http://www.bathandbodyworks.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2222397&cp=2073251.2077089&parentPage=family)

BagBalm is great and I also use a great hand cream from Origins. Another good thing to try is a paraffin wax dip for your hands. It's very moisturizing and leaves your hands feeling silky smooth.

I'm a little OCD about washing my hands and Aveeno is the only thing I'll use on my hands. I've tried most of what has been listed above and Aveeno truly is the best for me. Smooths out my calluses too!
