I'm training at Equinox this week and all their weights seem lighter than what I use at home for the same poundage. Mine are old-fashioned iron plates that you put on the DBs or BB (with those "screw" things). The ones at the gym are rubberized and for some reason feel lighter.
Not sure if I can post any PR's because of this.

Are the bars weighted at home and not at the gym....or weigh more at home?

That's funny that you mentioned that. I sometimes find the same. For example, when I changed gyms, I had to reduce my push press because I could no longer lift the same weight? But at my gym we have 2 different types of dumbbells and I find it is easier to for me to lift one than the other for the exact same lbs. But I think it's because of the shape. I think for one the weight is more evenly distributed and includes more weight in the bar so it's easier to me?

Yeah, if your handle is 2.5lbs, and you're only counting the plate weight, it'll weigh more than a 10lbs db that actually weights 10lbs.

I even tried to account for that. It seems like what is 17.5 at home+handle weight feels heavier than a 20 lb DB at the gym.
But I agree with you, it has to do with the difference in DB handle/unweighed BB weights.

So today I did 3X12 lying leg curls using the stack machine at the gym set at 55. Is that actual pounds?
How come at home I can barely do 3X12 with 4 actual plates of 10 pounds on my lying leg curl bench?
