I'm a vegetarian - my husband is not. So please excuse my ignorance, but I need help.

I recently started tracking his diet into Fitday, and am confused about chicken breasts. When I buy boneless, skinless breasts, I am under the impression that they are chicken breast 'halves', are they not? But I'm confused with what Fitday's descriptions are. They make it sound like a medium chicken breast is two halves. If that is the case, then when I feed him 1/2, I would record 1/2. But maybe what I think is a chicken breast 1/2 is actually a whole chicken breast, according to Fitday. I totally don't know.

Any help?

Do you have a food scale? I measure in oz, after it's cooked and that's how I track it in fitday.

Sometimes, fitday's desciptions suck! I usually just enter the macros that are on the package of the food.

Yeah, I do have a digital scale that I use for everything - and yesterday I weighed one of the breasts after cooking - it was like 4.4 oz, so I used that, since I didn't know about the whole/half thing.

Your husband probably needs more than a 4.4 ounce serving of chicken if he is shooting for 1g of protein per lbm as a minimum. Just a suggestion. :)

I have his protein calculated at 1.25 g/lb, actually. That works out to 225 g/day, divided up approx into 6 meals/day at 38g/meal.
According to Fitday, a 4.5 oz cooked chicken breast gives him 39 g Pro, and 4g Fat - which is sufficient protein for one of his 6 meals.
I'm not sure where you are seeing a deficiency...

I wasn't sure of his size or other protein intake. However I ran a quick check on the USDA site and 1 cup (140g) of chicken was 43.43g protein.
