I am in my 9th month of not working out. I have incredible pain on my left elbow just from working light (20-35 lbs.) weights and no bench press or other upper body exercises. Doctor says nothing is wrong. Any hints out there or remedies? Anyone else have this problem?

Have you seen a physiotherapist?

Find a chiropractor that does ART (Active Release Techniques). If it's a tendinosis/soft tissue type injury (ie overuse/chronic), he or she, can help.

I was actually talking to a friend about my elbow pain (likely tendenitis) and she mentioned that she had had amazing results with acupuncture....

Hey there, it's likely tendinitis...where exactly is the pain, on the inside or outside of your elbow (medial or lateral)? What you can do is fill up a couple paper cups of water, freeze them, and then tear off the top lays as it melts. Your going to place the ice over the area of pain in small circles for 5 mins...it will hurt b/c its so cold. Take at least 400mg of IBprohen prior to and s/p exercise. Also pick up a foearm strap... if your in the US CVS has them, in Canada Shoppers would most likely have them. The strap should be wore while your training to take the stress off your extensors. It should be placed about 3-4 finger widths down from the crease in your elbow. If that doesn't work your next option is ultrasound which you would need to see a occupational or physical therapist for.
What type of work do you do? Could this be a work related injury from poor ergonomics of a workstation?
