I was running yesterday and got about 3 miles when my ankle started to hurt. Unfortunately, I was 3 miles away from home so I couldn't just stop. I turned around and ran the 3 miles back home. I didn't twist it or anything, so I'm not sure what happened. It didn't seem too bad at first but by last night it was very swollen (on the outside) but no bruising. I can bear weight but have limited mobility and am limping.

I'm assuming a sprain and will RICE it today but does anyone know approximately how long I should expect to recover from this? I'm really pushing to get this weight off by the end of June. I hate the thought of dropping my calories even lower to compensate for inactivity.:uhuh:

Ouchie.

RICE will help, rest up. You should still be able to do upper body work while your resting it. On those lower body days follow off training cals?

That depends on if the injury is coming from ligaments, or bone. Either way you need the calories for recovery even if you have less activity. I'd drop your cardio all together and get your (body) weight as well as lower body weights off of it.

If it's soft tissue and a sprain or pulled ligaments you're probably looking at 3 or so weeks and if bone, 6 weeks.

Thanks, ladies. 3 weeks!!! :grrr: Well, I guess the sooner I rest it, the sooner it will heal. I think it is a ligament, as there was no "injury". I didn't twist it or hit it that I am aware of...I think it a case of improper warm-up. Looks like a lot of very low cal days for me. :wigging:
