So, I know carb consumption can cause water retention, so does sodium intake, pms, etc.
What I don't quite understand it why that would happen when I don't change my diet aka my carb consumption is roughly the same.
My stomach is one of the place the water seems to be going to, the squishy fat to be exact.
Anyway, what's the best way to get rid of the water?

Are you sure it is extra water and not fat preparing to mobilize?
So, I know carb consumption can cause water retention,
Typically intracellular.
so does sodium intake,
Not true. Changes in sodium intake affect the flux of water, yes. But sodium in and of itself does not cause water retention.
More sodium in = more sodium out = more water out; once your body has realized more sodium is coming in.

TOM?
How much fibrous vegetables do you have in your diet?
What about sugar-free drink mixes like Crystal Lite?
Anyway, what's the best way to get rid of the water?
More water + more sodium - and keep it up beyond the initial retention as it will drop and then some.

My fiber intake is about 35gr/ day including oat bran.
Not much crystal lite and the like...but I do use artificial sweetners quite a bit (I know I need to reduce that once my stash is gone).
Can you have too much sodium?
From what I have logged, I average about 3000mg/ day but does not include the seasoning salt that I put on my eggs.

That's not a high sodium intake.
Fibrous vegetable was specific to fibrous vegetables - not overall fiber gram intake.

About 200gr cabbage, 230 gr of mushrooms, 200 of mixed veggies (broccoli, cauli, pepper).
I guess I will add chicken broth to my diet to get the sodium up.

Correct me if I'm wrong but squishy fat is actual fat, while water retention is almost the exact opposite, a tighter bloating feeling.

So, how come the veggies into play?
How water total per day? 4 liters?

PICLKES! for the sodium..
Seems like I am getting more bang for my buck if I used chicken broth, tho.
And... I don't like dill pickles as much as I like sweet pickles... hehehe.

This is my vote!
I'm in the SAME BOAT as you are.
I've upped my carbs, but they are ONLY veggies (non-starchy) and fruit.
My stomach appears to have celulite on it (doesn't appear when I'm de-carbed), but I'm starting to see extra dents and stuff (those would be muscles, finally?) too, in some areas.
My carbs have gone up, but not my calories so I'm pretty darn sure it ain't fat.
I drink about 120oz of water a day and train every third day... so we shall see!

So fiber causes water retension? Darn, that's one of the things I most enjoy about being done with my contest diet is that I can have my Kashi cereal and Vitamuffins again...then again, I'm up 10 lbs. of water weight...:(

NO fiber does not cause water retention. Too much fiber, without adequate water and if your system is not used to it can cause stomach bloat.. not water retention.
