DO NOT DO THAT!!!
Seriously, keeping some sodium up to the point you cut food is only going to help you. Once you drop fluids and start sweating, salt or no salt in the days leading in will make almost no difference in what weight you end up at, and will make all the difference in how much weight you can put back on.
I'm not Erik or Noel, but I have some recent experience with dropping around 10% of my body weight for a weigh-in, and putting it all back to no performance detriment. As well as some experience with dropping less and having it not come back, to big performance detriment.

So does this mean I won't have to do a distilled water load the week of the show, pop water pills like candy, then just about die of thirst from Thursday night until Saturday night?!! 'Cause that totally sucked last year. :tantrum:

No, you won't be doing any of that nonsense.

Phew. Thank goodness! I was only allowed 1/2 liter of water ALL day on Friday and only sips on Saturday. I thought I'd be looking forward to the post-show meal at the Cheesecake Factory but the day of the show all I really wanted was to down a can of Diet Coke and a big bottle of water- I actually asked Anthony to have that ready for me after I got off stage at the Finals.I didn't even wait to change out of my suit before I drank some!

That part isn't too out of the norm actually.

Thanks. Won't be doing that. I was just borderline between the two weight classes. I guess it won't really matter.
I thought it might be better to be in the lower weight class.

I was being told about this by someone and that I should try it. Why is it stupid just out of curiosity? I don't know much about it.

Good :)
If you want a more sane and success-prone plan of attack, let me know how much weight you need to drop and what class it'll be into.
That said, I don't think there's value in cutting weight unless you're looking at records
