Good morning guys,:morning:
I'm new to this board. I'm trying to take my workout to a new level and get serious about weight trainging. I want to become more fit, lean and have more defined muscles. In addition to being a food addict, I'm also a scale addict. My question is will I initially retain fluid from starting to lift weights and if so how long will that last. Will I experience an initial weight gain? I don't want to freak myself out or get discouraged in the beginning. I know I need to stay off the scale, but:icanthearyou:. Sorry, that is so cute I couldn't resist.

Seriously, if it's that difficult to stay off of it, take it out of you house.

You may gain some weight due to intramuscular water retention.

Thanks Lenda, I really do plan to stay off the scale.

There tends to be an increase in glycogen storage at the outset of a weight training program - almost like an overcompensation. It drops back off though. Just a temporary thing and it's not a bad thing.

Make sure you're making a distinction between body fat and lean body mass.

The scale just gives you a number - a number that without context, is completely useless.

Provided you're doing everything you should be - your bodyweight will take care of itself over time.

I have to mention, when I first came to the forum, I thought Blondell WAS Lenda Murray. I thought to myself "wow, Lenda Murray's on this board?!"

Also took me a minute to realize that rippedenvy's avi is really Jelena Abbou!

Thanks Erik, that makes sense why that happens.
