Is there any correlation between bodyfat levels and recovery times?
Say someone is leaner than another, all other variables equal (diet, training, supps, etc)--which person would have a shorter recovery time?

What about genetics? You forgot to factor that in.

I'd say so. Typically when body fat is lower recovery tends to be at a premium. For example, you have to be a bit more careful with programming intense intervals when you're really lean since recovery isn't as great as when calories and body fat are higher.
Whether that's truly because bodyfat is low or if it's just a consequence of what it take to get body fat low (long term dieting, low calories, more cardio, etc), I'm not sure.

OK. Here's what I posted, and I deleted it because I thought I misunderstood the question.
From my own experience during dieting, I took a lot longer to recover when I was depleted -- sore for longer and a feeling of CNS overload, especially on heavy compound lifts.
As soon as my calories came up, and especially carbs, I felt better. My workouts are still challenging but I don't feel like I'm dragging for for days afterward.
I thought Patricia was asking about body fat levels not just calorie levels, so that's why I deleted my original post.
