I was reading somewhere that as long as you are getting enough protein (1 to 1.5 grams per pound of body weight) that the ratios of carbs and fat don't really matter.
I.E. If I'm 127 pounds, I eat 1600 calories daily, and I shoot for 160g protein (640 cals from protein), that the other 960 calories in my diet don't matter as to whether they are fat or carb calories, as long as they're from good foods.
 True??

I'm pretty sure I got into a debate, once upon a time, with Erik about carbs being essential. I lost the debate...of course. Scientifically speaking, I don't think they are essential. I was trying to find the debate on O2 but I'm having trouble finding it. It was a long time ago.
Edit: found it.

As long as protein is at the requirement, you're getting enough essential fats, and calories are sub-maintenance (all three conditions have to be met), no I don't really think the rest matters at all.
This isn't to say you wouldn't notice a difference in performance or just general state of being, but in terms of body composition, not so much.
