Does anyone know, on average, how long it takes to concieve? What is the likelihood of getting pregnant the first time trying?

Not to scare you but I've had unprotected sex two times and ended up pregnant both times. I'm a fertile murtle for sure. :)

With my first pregnancy and baby, it took 3 months. That included coming off the pill and treatment for ovarian cysts, so really it was no time at all but to me it did seem like forever.

With my second pregnancy, it took 9 months. This was due in part to the fact that my doctor ripped the placenta from my uterus when my first baby was born, which cause me to hemorrage at 6 weeks postpartum, and my uterus was still retaining parts of the placenta until I got pregnant again. I miscarried because of this also. This is not a normal situation, though.

With my third pregnancy (second birth), it took another 3 months.

My sister in law got pregnant in her first month of trying.

My best friend just found out she's pregnant with her second unplanned pregnancy (although they weren't using birth control except for pulling out... which is not effective AT ALL).

They say that around 6 months is normal, but most docs make you wait one year before trying anything like Clomid...

it took us both times (2 kids) about 3 months trying, but everybody is different, it can happen the first month and it can takes longer, just don't give up and keep trying :p

3 months the first time I got pregnant (ended in miscarriage) about 5 months the time after that (another miscarriage). We went to using condoms after that and didn't one time and I got pregnant.. With this child 2 months. Everyone is different, though.

I got pregnant the first time I had sex.

The second time, I got off the pill and was preg a month later, but that one ended in a miscarriage.

We're hoping to try in July so I'll let you know how that one goes :)

Varies by person. Depends if you track your ovulation or not.

NOT tracking, chances are around 20% on average. But that's because you're only fertile during a few days of the month.

Read 'taking charge of your fertility'. Very helpful.

I don't have any stats personally yet- in about 10 days I will let you know if we got it on the first month of trying. :)

I read somewhere that 30% of healthy, able-to-conceive couples conceive in the first 3 mos, 50% in the first 6 mos and 80% of couples will conceive in the first year. Who knows how true it is though. My mom says she got pg the first try with both me and my brother too.

I totally agree. I read this book to learn how to chart for my third pregnancy. I also leant it to my SIL, who got pregnant her first cycle of trying.

I got preggers with my son the first time my hubby and I went unprotected. :) We just decided to start trying again, so we'll see about this one. I'm trying to get my cycles back after losing them with amenorrhea, so we'll see....

We've been trying for nearly a year, and have just recently started seeing a chinese herbalist who specializes in fertility to help us so hopefully soon it will happen. I have a few health issues ie endometriosis and PCOS so cross fingers she can help us. I am 35 soon so hope its not too late!! :baby:

We got pregnant the first time we tried! Must be fertile! Of course, my husband likes to take the credit.
