from google it appears to have many reasons why it might occur.
Are you still dieting/eating low cals ? overly exercising or exsessively stress?
WHere is your body fat. have they tested all your hormones, including thyroid?

My cals are back up above maintinance. To be honest I don't count cals, but I am roughly following the bulking phase diet I was doing with Erik pre competition diet. Doing hardly any cardio, lifting upper/lower split 4x/week. I would hardly call this excessive. I've been diagnosed with an underactive thyroid for a while now, and have been on Synthroid and Metformin. I was originally diagnosed with PCOS, but in looking at my blood work, not onlly is my estrogen low, but so are my FSH and LH. I've been working with a reproductive specialist for the past few months TTC, with no luck yet.
As for body fat, um, I'm not really sure, but it is definitely up since the competition. Still pretty lean, but I wouldn't say THAT lean. I've just been doing some research on this, and it seems like my symptoms and bloodwork fit more into this category than PCOS.
That's why I'm curious if anyone has any experience with it.... I REALLY want to have a family soon and I'm trying to sort all this out.

Are you sure you thyroids are optimized? Most people dont do well on just synthyoid (or T4)
I know of quite a few gals that werent getting a cycle, and when on optimized levels got their cycle back, which included a medication that contained both T4 an d T3..
WOuld you share you thyroid levels.. results with lab ranges?

I have an appointment this morning and am going to get a copy of my last couple lab results. I will post them as soon as I have them... Do you know the particular medication names for T4 and T3 by any chance? Thanks so much!

T3/T4 comes in many name brands (and depending on where you live. )
Amour
Nature-thyoid
Westhyroid
I think there is one more, are combomeds of T3 and T4.. THey are called dessicated nattural
you can also get T3 and T4 in synthetic combos of meds known as:
Levoxyl
synthryoid
to name a few.. these are T4
and
with the additon of T3, coming from Cytomel.
I used to take synthyroid /cytomel and now take Amour. I have hashimotos, which is an autoimmune thyroid issue.
My cousin, though getting a cycle wasnt on enough T4 and couldnt concieve.. Once they raised her meds.. BINGO!
Under treated thyroid is often a cause of (but obviously not all) infertility.
Many docs undermedicate
There is a lot of info here on meds etc at STTM

I did and I wasn't that lean. I lost my cycle two months into trainning with Erik.
I got it back a yr later when i gained my weight back, then lost it again when I started leanning out again.

Lean can be relative to what your own bodies comfort is.
Many gals lose their cycle while dieting and leaning out.. except ME! :tantrum:

Yes, I wasn't all that lean by competitors standards but far enough removed from my set point that it caused me to lose it.

OK, I got a copy of my thyroid panel from my doc today. This is before I was put on Synthroid...
T4 (Thyroxine) was 5.3 ug/dL
T3 uptake 34%
Free Thyroxine Index 1.8
TSH was 3.463 uIU/mL
I have no idea what most of this means....

Well, given the doc is a reproductive specialist, I think her focus is just on making babies. I will ask her to do another blood test next visit where I can get the correct info. I read those link, Ileen, thanks so much for posting them.

Well it's really important for a repro endo to know thyroid, otherwise, <not meant to scare> if your levels arent optimal/up to par, you wont conceive or are at risk for miscarriage (been there :(
