View Full Version : Running
Would you still run for the first few months of pregnancy? I would want to because I really like it, but I feel like maybe it's not such a good idea with a baby in there. I'm not talking sprints, I mean steady running.

My girlfriend ran through all three of her pregnancies the whole time. She was also considered "high risk" as she was over 40 for her pregnancies but she has always run so doc said it was ok. Personally I never run unless someone is chasing me

I never used to like running but I love it now. I'm thinking since the weather will still be nice (if I get pregnant) might as well keep it up before the winter months.
Wow 3 pregnancies and high risk!
I just have this image of everything bouncing too much in there. But I guess the baby is pretty protected. I don't want to stop moving just because I'm pregnant.

I ran up until I was 5.5 months pregnant. It was more of a balance issue with me. And the fact that the ground was starting to get icy. If your Doc says it's ok I would give it a try. Stop if ya don't like how it feels! :)

i ran up to about 5 months pregnant but then i was just too tired. listen to your body and definitely take it easy if your body tells you to. :)

Same here...about 5-6 months or so and then running was uncomfortable....I did spin until 8.5 and then it hurt to sit on the bike seat....My doc always told me if you were doing it proir to pregnency, then it is fine during as long as it feels good :baby:

when you did the spinning did you keep up with the class or go at a more moderate pace?

Sorry I missed this question...where is the blond smiley???
I did go more moderate....just whatever felt good.....once when everyone was standing, going balls out, I was sitting and riding at a good clip and the instructor came over and asked if I was okay...I said, yea...just pregnant.....but man...it got really uncomfortable towards the end...so I gave it up!!!

(don't worry about not answering right away, I don't always follow up on threads)
Thanks, this is good to know. I was thinking that spinning might be a good idea for pregnancy because you're not jumping around. it also works out if I was to take a class because they run early in the morning at my gym, when I have access to the car.
