For my first show, or when I started preparing. Id guess, I was somewhere around 15-16% bf prior to starting, but may have been around 18% (I was thinking, but I guess more skinny-fat, never got my bf tested). I started deciding I wanted to drop bf and compete in like august of '07, and I competed at a supposed 7% in June of '08. However, I was probably more around 12% or so for a women at that time. But was about the leanest Ive ever been in my life. I have pics of that in the bf when competing thread, under the competitor section. ( I think most people say I was 12-13%, my skinfold on my stomach was around 4mm and I had veins showing in my ab area..woohoo!)

So at least getting from a 'normal' healthy bf/weight (I still weighed about 115lbs before I started though). and I was 108lbs at my show, but much leaner. Took about 9 months...... I was accused at being TOO lean for that show though also.

Not sure if that helps, I definitely think it takes some time. I think alot of people start for a show anywhere from 12-20 weeks depending on bf percentage to start.

That's definitely going to be different based on gender. It is easier for males to get down that low... most women who say they are 10% are actually probably still in their teen's.

Ileen? I know she had DEXA scan done some time ago.

I hit 9.8% via dexa (and i've been leaner since) other than that, i never measure bf.

amt of time?? hmmm not sure. Since i dont compete, i never put a time frame on it and take my time.

I've been "measured" at 10%, but of course, that's only a measurement. I don't go by the numbers themselves, but the difference. Since you're asking about a 10% difference....

1st pic was at 20% BF and 132 lbs

2nd pic was at 10-12% BF and 110 lbs

Took me about 20-23 weeks, depending on if you count the few weeks of 'cleaning up the diet'
