What exactly is a split routine? I use the "Bible Body Sculpting for Women". Is this a split?

Day 1- Monday
Dumbell Rows (one arm)
Push-ups
Dumbbell Shoulder Press
Standing calf raises
Dumbbell Curls
Overhead Dumbbell Extensions
Dumbbell Squats
Stiff-Legged Deadlifts

Day 2- Wednesday
Dumbbell Squats
Dumbbell Lunges (I have a love/hate relationship with these)
Ballet Squats
Stiff legged Deadlifts
Standing Calf Raises (one leg)
Upright Rows
Standing Calf Raises (two legs)
Triceps Kickbacks

Day 3- Friday
Dumbbell Rows (two arms)
Flat Dumbbell Flys
Bent Over Lateral Raises
Standing Calf Raises (two legs)
Hammer Curls
Lying Dumbbell Extensions
Ballet Squats
Dumbbell Lunges

Thanks!

A split simply referrs to how you break up your workouts. It could be upper/lower, full body, or by body parts.

So is what I'm doing a full body split? It seems to be one half for the most of it and then a couple for the other half thrown in at the end.

I'm so dense!

Looks to be some sort of full body. It looks like it has a lot of fluff exercises and too much overall work. What are the sets/reps?

The stickies have much better recommendations than what you posted.

I'm doing 2 supersets 10-15 reps depending on the weights.

OK I'll check the stickies and tweak my routine. Thanks.

That doesn't sound too good.

The full body or 5 X 5 in the stickies is excellent.

I do appreciate it and want all the help I can get.

I skimmed over the 5 x 5 stickie real quick. Can I do these with just dumbbells?

I think 'heavier' exercises for the most part are better suited for barbells. You run into some stability issues and possibility for injury with DBs in a low rep range. With that said, I think 5 X 5 is basically at the cut off point for being too heavy.

I did the BSB routine right after Christmas for two weeks and then switched to the 3 day FB routine outlined in the stickies. The 3 day FB is much better. I got alot more results from that. And I hope you're not using the nutritional info from the book. 1200 calories is very, very low. :)

Thanks!

Yes, I did use the 1200 guideline for the first week. I'm paying for it now. :suicide:

I did it for two weeks but right after the holidays and switched up to carb cycling after that with no change in my weight. You'll be fine if you only did it for one week. :)

I did drop 8 lbs right away and have been upping my cals since then with no weight loss for the last 2 weeks. I haven't gained so I'm not complaining.

I haven't tried carb cycling yet. I'm a little sceered. It reminds me of the whole Atkins thing and I was miserable on that diet. Maybe I'll give it a shot soon.
