I did research on this and there were many different opinions both, scientific and personal when it came to the safety of this product. I have been using the PVL protein powder for some years now and was wondering what any of your opinions are or if you could direct me into a legible, credible source that tells me whether this is safe or not.

it depends on which 'camp' you want to believe.

Likely best, to use it in moderation. There are protein powders sans art flavoring/swtner too.

I have at least one protein drink a day. I've tried quite a few other protein powders and I haven't found one that I like as good as PVL, the whey gourmet. Any recommendations on a flavorful sweetner-free mix?

I like Kaizen (chocolate or vanilla). No artificial flavour or sweeteners. Mixes well with just water.

Where does it say this is sweetened w/stevia? I couldn't find it. Low carbs, low fat and calorie content, that's a plus. Is the flavor pretty doable??

ah ha..Thank you much!
Just found this on Bodybuilding.com for $19.79 for a 2 lb. tub. That's pretty cheap as long as it's the same one. Looked like it...I didn't find the sweetner on that tub though. Maybe I'm blind today....

I really like the chocolate. :yum: I use it mixed with cold water for PWO. No problem mixing in a shaker. It does not cook well.

I also like the vanilla ice cream flavour, but prefer the chocolate. I have used the strawberry-banana to make cottage cheese ice cream, but I don't like it as a shake (but I didn't buy it for a shake as strawberry as a shake isn't my favourite).

PM me and I can send you a sample in the mail. :thumb:

Where do you buy this one? What's it cost up here? Laura would like a stevia-flavoured protein.

I buy mine at a local health food store (Ambrosia). I stocked up when it was on sale for $17.99 per tub in December. I forget what the regular price is, maybe around $25.

I have seen it at GNC, but it was more expensive.

I can mail Laura a sample if you want.

It's an isolate, so I'd imagine not very at all.

I've been eating very, very clean for the past couple of weeks, so my shakes are like my chocolate fix right now. They've helped me get through some severe cravings so I'll take them thin or thick just as long as they are :cheat:

It does make a nice "hot chocolate" with gentle warming. :yum:

I have never had a "thick" protein shake.

In *my* mind, shakes arent food.

In the winter, they make me freeze and I have been having them as hot chocolate.
In the warmer weather, it can be a 'treat' as i can make it ice cream and not freeze my bum off!

PVL makes a great thick shake but i want to get away from the art sweetner. I have another brand that isnt art sweetned but i dont care for it much.. I just checked and PVL now has a natural line. I doubt the chocolate is going to be as good as the PB choc.. that is my favorite one and the only one i order(ed)
going to check bb.com and see what the pricing is like.. natural is normally even more expensive.

I agree, shakes aren't my food, they're a snack, but they are a fix for me. I want to get away from the art sweetners too. I emailed BB.com to ask them about they're natural flavored protein and as usual, their prices are very reasonable. I didn't know PVL had a natural line. I'll have to check that out too!

I use Bob's Red Mills Guar Gum to thicken my shakes if they are too runny. Works great. Only, it will add to your calories/macros...a 7g serving has 20cals, 6g carbs 0 g fat og pro. However, it also adds 6g fibre.

Xanathan gum works well too, with an added 10 cals and 1 g of carbs and fibre from guar gum.

I order my stevia-sweetened protien from Prograde. It only comes in vanilla, which was different for me as I have always been a chocolate shake girl, but it really is yummy.
