View Full Version : How far is your gym?

06-08-2006, 09:11 PM
I am just wondering who else has a long way to travel to get to their gym either on foot, bus or bike. mine is a ways away, I am not sure how long it will take to get there but I suspect at least an hour.

06-08-2006, 09:15 PM
25-30 minutes. With prices of gas so high this ain't fun...

06-08-2006, 09:17 PM
10 min from my house.

06-08-2006, 09:17 PM
It's about a minute's walk.

06-08-2006, 09:18 PM
13miles. So under 20mins driving during non-traffic times. I wouldn't make it any of the other ways.

06-08-2006, 09:19 PM
Mine's about 15 minutes from the office, a little less from home. DH, DS and I carpool there most evenings.

06-08-2006, 09:22 PM
10 minute walk, or 2 stops on the good ol' c-train...which I only take if it is raining, or I'm on a time crunch.

06-08-2006, 09:24 PM
10 minutes by car.

06-08-2006, 09:24 PM
between 5-10 mins by car.

06-08-2006, 09:30 PM
20min by c-train from home or a 10 min walk from work.

Whoa-- I was actually thinking of starting a thread about this the other day!

My gym's about 10 minutes from my house. During the schoolyear, somtimes I use my university's gym as well (during long breaks or after school).

I wish I lived closer to SO's gym because it's amazing-- has all the equipment mine does plus tons of hammer strength stuff, and classes which would be nice because I want to start yoga again-- but it's like 45 minutes away (more in traffic) and it's just not practical for me.

06-08-2006, 09:50 PM
15-20 minutes by car

06-08-2006, 10:29 PM
5 minutes by car.

It should only take 2 minutes but I always get stuck at a traffic light that takes 3 minutes to turn green.

06-08-2006, 10:36 PM
About 1 mile away

06-08-2006, 10:37 PM
5 minutes on foot

06-08-2006, 10:40 PM
less than a ten minute drive

06-08-2006, 10:46 PM
I use the work gym, which is just going down the stairs from my cubicle.

06-08-2006, 10:50 PM
2 minute walk.

06-08-2006, 10:54 PM
10-15 min. drive.

06-08-2006, 11:08 PM
10-15 minutes by car. But it is a fantastic gym so I continue to go there.

06-08-2006, 11:10 PM
it's about a five minute drive.

06-08-2006, 11:27 PM
I have two locations. One is a 5min drive from my work (good for lunches and right after work) the other is a 5min walk from my house, good for weekends and evenings.

06-08-2006, 11:29 PM
Right next to my bed.

bel canto
06-08-2006, 11:37 PM
5 minute drive or if I want to use the decent gym at work, I take an elevator, an escalator, walk 2 minutes and I'm there.

06-08-2006, 11:55 PM
5 min drive

06-08-2006, 11:57 PM
Literally across the street from home and 3 blocks from work

I am moving though so then it will be farther - like 30 min drive/bus but still 3 blocks from work

06-09-2006, 12:00 AM
5 minutes from work

10-12 from home

06-09-2006, 12:01 AM
Mine is only two miles from my house.

06-09-2006, 12:04 AM
8-10 minute walk.

06-09-2006, 12:11 AM
Down my basement steps IF i train at home, otherwise at least a 20min IF early morning.. Coming home, in traffic 40min.

06-09-2006, 12:19 AM
I do my cardio at home in my basement and my gym is about five minutes away.

06-09-2006, 12:28 AM
There's one across the street from my office, and two within 10 mins of my house.

06-09-2006, 12:30 AM
I do weights in the garage, and cardio at the apartment complex fitness room, about a 5 min. walk.

06-09-2006, 12:31 AM
My gym is about 7 minutes from here and I do cardio at home sometimes.

06-09-2006, 01:49 AM
25 min from the house or right across the street from school

06-09-2006, 01:51 AM
5 minutes from my work, and the other one is 10 minutes from my house.

And my study is down the hall from the bedroom with free weights and a crappy treadmill for those days I'm too lazy to get out.

06-09-2006, 01:53 AM
5 minutes from the house, 3 minutes from the work...

06-09-2006, 02:19 AM
Ten steps downstairs to my basement. If I actually had to go somewhere I don't think I'd ever workout.

06-09-2006, 02:42 AM
Ours is 10 minutes from our house.

06-09-2006, 02:58 AM
One mile from home

06-09-2006, 02:59 AM
25 minutes in traffic...I wish it was closer!

06-09-2006, 03:46 AM
It takes me about 45 minutes in the morning....which I don't mind...it gives me a chance to drink my coffee and wake up a little in the car before I go into train. Plus, at 4:30am there aren't too many people on the road.

06-09-2006, 06:27 AM
one is 10 min from home, one is 15 min from home, and one is 20 min (this is where I work, so a 2 min walk up the street once I'm at work).

06-09-2006, 09:13 AM
5 minutes by bus. 20 minutes by foot. Love it! :)

06-09-2006, 11:21 AM
20 minutes from home.

Amen to that sista! There is no way with my 4 kids that I would ever make it to the gym. Even with working out at home, I still have to get up at 5AM to get my workouts in without my little "distractions" finding me.

06-09-2006, 11:40 AM
5-10 min by car.

06-09-2006, 12:14 PM
About an hour away! I workout at home.

06-09-2006, 09:25 PM
5 Min Car ride!!

06-09-2006, 09:33 PM
5 mins car ride.

06-09-2006, 09:47 PM
My gym is around 15-20 min in the car.

I heard that we might be getting a gym close to where I live! That would be sweet! Walking distance! :woohoo:

06-09-2006, 11:11 PM
3 minute walk, about 30 seconds by car. And no, I rarely walk. I could make it there fine, but I'd never make it home.

06-10-2006, 03:25 AM
6 miles

06-10-2006, 02:40 PM
35min drive from my parents house, 3min walk from my house at school.

06-11-2006, 03:24 AM
It takes me about 14 minutes by car to get to my gym

06-11-2006, 04:17 PM
20 minute drive

06-11-2006, 04:48 PM
It's right here at work! lol I work at the gym, and we take turns running off to workout some days. lol Sweeeeet assssss.... I suppose that's why we're only paid minimum wage, huh?

06-11-2006, 07:37 PM
33 floors below my condo! Takes about 1min in the elevator! Love it! Makes it really easy to get in a morning and an evening workout when I feel like I have lots of energy to burn!

06-11-2006, 09:22 PM
less than 5 minutes in the car. Probably 15 on foot.

06-11-2006, 11:38 PM
currently? my gym is about a 2 minute drive (abt a mile from my house).

I'm moving though. And the gym near my apartment says its 8-9 miles away which means probably a 15-20 min drive - god thats gonna SUCK ASS. BUT I will have cardio equipment 2 feet from my front door so I'll just use the cardio equipment in the apartment complex's poor excuse for a "gym".

06-12-2006, 12:41 AM
5-8 minutes from my house.

06-12-2006, 02:45 PM
Five minute walk :)

06-12-2006, 03:19 PM
10 minute drive

06-13-2006, 05:44 AM

I'm a good twenty minutes away from one of my gyms, another about 15 depends on if I'm at my house or my boyfriends, from my house my second gym is 40 minutes.

I live in a rural area, it is the closest gym and there is no walking or riding my bike to it since I'm several miles out on a gravel road. There might be a slightly closer gym but only by a few minutes and this is the "best" gym in the area and that's being generous. I sometimes drive the 40 minutes to the my other gym just because the equipment is so very much better.

06-13-2006, 09:38 PM
15 min/walk 15 min/drive

I cut through the greenway when walking which is why it is the same time.
