Alright, so I was doing amazing with my diet and looking hard and lean. Then I had to leave my son for 3 days and mindlessly ate and ate and ate. It was not unhealthy food, for the most part, but just large quantities.. Now I feel and look bloated and am freaking out, my bikini competition is only 3 weeks away!!! Anyone have any tips to try and get my bloating down? I am vegetarian, and nursing...

Jump right back on plan. Drinks tons of water.

Do you have a coach?

I had a meltdown like that a few weeks out from a show when I was training with Erik... it was only one afternoon not 3 days but I bloated like crazy anyway so he had me do protein only for 2 days afterwards. Basically, just eat the protein portion of your meals; you can have salad greens, cucumber, sugar-free vinegars, mustard but no fibrous veggies or other condiments, no added fats- only your EFA softgels. No gum. Lots of water with lemon; green tea wouldn't hurt either.
It sucks, but it works. The water weight should be gone after 2 days of this; at that point get back on whatever you were doing before the slip-up; and start doing daily practice sessions in front of a mirror in your stage bikini. Great for motivation! Hey- it's only a couple more weeks, right??? You can do this. ;)

My favorite book about emotional eating is Shrink Yourself by Roger Gould. He's a psychologist, so his angle is to look at the things that make you eat emotionally and take steps to resolve them, rather than to try and tackle emotional eating from a diet/hunger perspective. This book really helped me a lot.

that seems like its the right approach/angle since its a thinking issue not a food/eating issue.

Exactly. :) Not only did that book help me quit emotional eating, it helped me resolve some of the emotional baggage I've been dragging around for years. I wasn't even aware of some of the issues I had until I read that book! It was an eye opener and a truly cathartic time in my life.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'm going to order the book asap! Looking forward to making some changes mentally w/ my distorted food thinking!!

I just finished reading Mindless Eating, per Erik's recommendation about a month ago. Such a good book! Really opened my eyes! Definitely recommend it to anyone....

If you don't have time to make it through a whole book and need a quick read to get your mind back on track, check out The Flat Tire Phenomenon note on the LBC facebook page.
