ok I have naturally blonde hair, and I dyed it black, now when it grows out the blonde roots look like gray hair  So I just got done talking to my husbands Aunt who is a hair stylist and she suggested I get my hair bleached halfway back to blonde and then get some foils in the top , leave that for a few months, and then go back light....
I want to get my hair healthy again and I can't see how thats ever going to happen if i keep dying it. Problem is my husband loves my hair black :( It was his idea to dye it.
I just want straight shiny beautiful hair!! :curse:

Going back to blonde after being black is going to be a slow process and not very gentle to your hair either. It took me several months to get from dark brown to my natural blonde again and had to cut of the dry ends. Definately go to a professional to have it done - too much can go wrong if you do it yourself. Some hairstylists might want to strip your hair but i am not sure that is a good idea (but any hairdressers out there - please correct me if I am wrong, there could be gentle ways of doing so).

There is NO gentle way of stripping your hair. Especially from black to blonde. You will NEVER get shiny blonde hair until you grow it out again. If you do bleach/strip it, get it done by a professional. No matter what, you will have brassy hair. :( I would go somewhere that is VERY known for their corrective coloring, or you could have a nightmare.

:( yikes! will it be brassy even if I don't go all the way to blonde for now? Like halfway? Why oh why did I do this???? :suicide:

I never did end up end up with brassiness but as I said it was a very long slow process - close to a year! Lucky for me I had a friend who was a hairstylist with creativity and a lot of patience. THe toughest part for me was the "in between" color where I wasn't a beautiful blonde and had rich dark colored hair.
