I have a permanent scrape on my back from squatting.

Does anyone else have this?

I have a dry patch there that doesn't go away, I'm assuming it's from squatting.. Speaking of which, can you buy those little collar/pad things anywhere? Definitely need to get my own. I was grossed out yesterday - I found what appeared to be dried skin all over the pad at my gym. So disgusting! I took it off and just used the bare bar.

I bought one of those pads for the bar for your neck from Walmart in the workout section for $6 US.

My fiancee gets the same thing. Last time he was home a friend from college kept making joke that hickies belong on ones neck - not shoulders/back... hehe.

Yup, like the others I get them too. Takes a little time to go away also. Those pads do a number on the skin

Funny comment about the hicky..

I don't use the pad so I am in a constant state of bruising behind my shoulders..I have also noticed that I have rough patches...I think I am getting callouses

Don't use the pad!

The only time I got a scrape from squatting was when I had to bail outsde of a cage. Maybe I wear more clothing? Or just put the bar lower? And I've never had any sort of a bruise from back squats...some from front squats, but never back squats.

The pad tends to push your body foward slightly which can throw off your alignment during the squat. It would be good not to use it and get used to the bar being on your shoulder/traps.

I get bite marks across my traps and rear delts that will last a day or two, but they always go away.

Not from squatting, but I have them on the front of my calves from DLing.

I don't use the pad either. I haven't noticed any marks yet.

I did scrape the crap outta my knee a few feeks ago while DLing. I called the scab my barbell kiss, because it loves me so much, lol.

It's fun to be t3h h@rdc0r3, but with summer here I look a bit scary in backless tops.

I've tried not using a pad but it digs into my bone at the top of my vertabrae. I can't seem to go as heavy if I don't use the pad.

Lower the bar and pull your shoulders back...the bar shouldn't be anywhere near your vertebrae.

I hope I told you the right spot that the bar sets on. So the bar should be sitting farther down on my back. Right below my shoulders but above my shoulder blades? Does this sound right?

Something like that...low on the traps...high bar squats have their place, too, but those are still lower than the neck. Just never touching your spine, that's the important part.

Thanks!! There are alot of people at my gym that say it hurts their neck so I'll have to give them the 101 on the placement!! Thanks again!

I guess i have this scrape too. My husband pointed it out today. However it's kind of high up on my neck so I guess i have to work on lowering the bar....I just don't have a shelf.

Those are called Dead Treads!!

My shins have always been a mess of scars from Rugby but Deadlifting adds almost weekly. Rarely do I get through a DL workout without some blood.

And.. no damn way would I consider using a pad or towel or any gadget... I need contact with the bar.. need to have the feeling... pads and shit take that away.

I'd advise you not wear a skirt or summer dress then Miker.
