Ok, I did a search and came up with, no joke, 500 matches  My question is simple and maybe a little silly: should I be alternating each leg? For instance, do 1 rep with the right, then one rep with the left etc till the set is complete on both? Or should I finish a full set on one leg then move to the next? Or does it even matter?

Are you making fun of me? :curse: :finger:

Ok, I know, it's a dumb question, but humor me, ok?

You could probably do it either way. Doing all reps for the one leg before doing any reps for the other would result in a little more concentrated effort on the leg.

Just remember this simple rule:

If it sounds trivial, it probably is.

Most of this stuff is not complicated enough to require this level of micromanagement.

Hmm..never really thought of it that way...Ok, thanks for answering my petty little question B)

Depends...lunges are usually alternating, unless otherwise specified...at least that's how I do it. Sometimes if it's just a static lunge, it's called a split squat and you definitely do one leg at a time.

Well, considering that I am 'new' to the different exercises like this I just want to be sure that I'm not screwing myself. If that makes sense..

Thanks Leah. I can never make up my mind; one time I'll alternate, the next I won't. If doing one at a time is a bit more concentrated, then I might stick to that.

Either way I almost die every time. I was a dummy and for some unknown reason put lunges on my high rep days :barf: I hate lunges. :ninja: But I know my butt/quads need them so I do 'em.

Aren't lunges supposed to be on high rep days because it's unilateral? Aren't compound movements for heavy days? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

You are correct. Or medium days. Either way....just don't rely on lunges for your heavy days cause the loading will not be sufficient.

"Supposed to be?" Not sure I'd go that far, but generally speaking, I'd say yes, since they really don't lend themselves well to heavy loading, whereas something like squats, definitely do.

I have always thought lunges respond better to high reps......

I didn't know that :o So then I did good putting them on a higher rep day? They still stink tho

THAT would've seemed like a trivial question to me..I'm so unlearned..

I was doing T's 3 day full body workout and there are lunges on the 15 rep day. I hated that day :curse: !!! Those lunges were killer. They must be included on the higher rep day for a good reason (I hope!!!)

I'm back on a 4 day upper lower push pull split now and much happier. :D

That funny you say that because i love the lunges on that day. It is the upper body that is killing me. My arms have the "super shake" after all that.

I thought when doing a split squat, you had one leg up on a bench??? (And that is why just one leg at a time)

That's a bulgarian squat. Same thing as a split squat, but in the latter, your back foot is on the floor. Think of it as a stationary lunge.
