View Full Version : How soon after ....
....can you take a preg. test?
Prob shouldn't take it earlier than 2 days after your missed period.
If you get a test at the doctors office..can you test sooner then? Or will it not matter b/c you are still testing too soon?

you'll still need to wait. they basically use the same method as the "do it yourself" tests you can buy-unless they do a blood test.

Some OTC pregnancy test are more sensitive than others and can sense Hcg production earlier. Look for ones that say that you can test X number of days before your missed period. I know I used one of those tests when I was pregnant with my last and it was accurate, baby #4 was on his way. I wish I could help you out with a brand name, but it's been a few years now. HTH!
ya, it takes a few weeks for things to really show up on a test. Gotta be patient! ;) But I know it's hard!

It depends on when implantation takes place. It can happen as early as 3 days after ovulation to as late as 14 days after, with the average being 7-10 days after ovulation. It takes about 2 days or so after implantation for hCG levels to build up enough to be detected in blood or urine to trigger a positive pregnancy test. (Whether a blood test or a urine test) Some women can get positive pregnancy tests before they miss a period, but some won't get a positive test until they're late.
I wish I could give you a more definite answer! Good luck to you! :D

Really, you can take it anytime you want. As mentioned above, best to wait until your expected period. Remember - false negatives are common, false positives are not!
