honestly.....not very. at first, nearly all i could stomach was french fries. now, if i so much as smell greasy anything i get nauseated...
now i just try my best to eat "healthy" and not necessarily "clean"
does that makes sense?

ditto.
I lived off of salt and vinegar chips and chocolate milk for the first 3 months. After that, I figured, "Heck, I am gonna gain weight anyway, may as well enjoy it!"

I ate great when I wasn't puking....ditto on the french fries.....for some reason they were the only thing I could keep down for about 5 months for the first 2 pregnancies.....the third time was easy to stay on track as I was not sick at all....
but i will say the "crave monster" beats down the door during pregnancy(at least for me it did).....my cravings were terrible!!!! I did indulge sometimes....more than I ever would not pregnant.....my weight was in check for all three....25lbs the first....35 the second...and 30 the third time.....

I have 2 very close friends - both prego - both 8 months. Same bodies going in. Friend A ate clean - looks amazing - healthy skin, good body shape (you know with the belly) - expected to gain 26 pounds - friend B.........didn't eat clean and since you shouldn't say bad things about your friends...

Ribs, fries, key lime pie-the whole thing! (just kidding)
I wish I could have consumed more healthful foods but its like I had voices in my head saying "doughnuts, doughnuts". I really wasnt that out of control but I have always been a dieter so to me it seemed like it. I have afriend who is pregnant and she walks daily and eats very clean- she looks great. I felt like crap the whole time and I have been busting my butt to take off the last 10 lbs. I tell my self it would be different next time......... good luck, its all worth it

Alot depends on whether or not you are dealing with N&V (morning sickness). If you are one of the blessed ones, you can probably stick to a fairly clean diet...but, like many here, I succumed to grilled cheese sandwiches and fries, Mac&Cheese, etc...many times during the first 6 months of both pregnancies. When you are feeling like crap, you just have to fill your stomach with something, and egg whites with spinach just won't cut it! :barf:

With my daughter I just ate whatever I wanted - there were definitely times that I couldn't stand to look at things that I normally liked. I wasn't working out or eating clean during that time although in general I ate pretty healthy. I gained 50 pounds, but a lot of that was swelling towards the end of my pregnancy. 3 weeks after she was born I was back to pre-pregnancy weight.
With this pregnancy, I am 38 weeks and I have gained about 28 pounds. I had more morning sickness in the first trimester and then I just ate whatever I could and that did NOT include chicken or cottage cheese (barf). I eat clean sometimes, but most of the time I just eat what I feel like eating. Sometimes that is ice cream and sometimes it's a whole bunch of watermelon and I still have my mid-morning meal of cottage cheese and natural pb :). I worked out at the very beginning of my pregnancy until the morning sickeness and in my 2nd trimester I sporadically worked out until I was about 6 months along. After that, I didn't do much in the gym although I am always pretty active around the house (which seems to be enough!!!). I have not had the swelling that I had with my daughter at all. In fact, it has been in the mid to upper 90's last week and this week and my ankles are swelling a bit, but nothing like I had with DD. It took a while for the heat to set in this year. Everyone says I am 'tiny' except for my belly - hopfully I will go back to pre-preg weight pretty quickly with this child as I did before ;)

Well, I ate pretty clean for the first two trimesters (after the morning sickeness allowed other than carbs) with this one - until the last trimester when danish cravings kicked me into super sweet tooth mood. For this I blame Leah the former danish queen. All you can do is try your best, IMO - sometimes all you can face is something odd or not what you would eat normally. Just don't go crazy with the eating for two excuse.
