I had a coach have me doing 60 mins of cardio daily. (20 min OF the 60 min hiit every second day)

NOW I know this is wayyyyy to much. How would ya'll suggest to cut back? Like skip sessions-OR-only do hiit-OR just do like 45 mins a day?

I dont wanna gain back the fat I lost with him....

Any suggestions?

You won't really get fat with overdoing cardio, but you will probably lose a lot of muscle mass.

IMO, you should cut the cardio, but it all depend of your lifting plan, if you do some leg works on some day or not.

I am on a 5 day split.-Back, Chest, Bis/Tris, Legs, shoulders. Heavy weights. 6-8 reps.

You might 'love' it, but for natural, genetically average trainees, bodypart splits (with a 1x/week frequency) are about about as ineffective as you're going to get - relative to a more scientifically sound approach.

Interesting. I have never heard that before. Care to explain why?

WTF?!?!?

The question was simply about a suggestion about cardio-nothing more. Then it get turns into that I am doing an uneffective training split-which has worked for me.

well your coach is an idiot on the way he has you doing cardio and is anything but effective, so why would anyone go by a less than effective training split?

Look at your arms, see how little of an area that is for muscle. Then look at your back. Why in the holy name of god would you work those wee little arm muscles as much as your massive back?

I'd have to say he's an all-around ninny. :wth:

I like Alwyn Consgrove's take on bp splits...

"I think my mission in life is to rid the world of this ridiculous workout notion. Somehow this highly developed organism that we call the human body is not a remarkable piece of machinery that functions flawlessly as a unit, it's just random ass "parts" put together — each of which can be worked separately.

My arse.

You didn't even turn your computer on using only one muscle so why in God's name are you trying to develop a body using some sort of body part split?

And while I'm on the subject, how come fingers and toes don't get their own "day"?

Biceps get their own special recognition, what about fingers and toes and sternocleido mastoids? Or left arm on one day, right arm on another day (different body parts)? Because it's stupid, right? Well, so is splitting up your chest and shoulder "days".

There are NO athletes other than a small bunch of genetically gifted, pharmaceutical abusing individuals who use a "body part" split with any success. NONE.

Now, if you ARE one of the genetic elite pharmaceutical abusers, then feel free.

Split routines arrived on the scene shortly after Dianabol was popular. Do you see the connection?

Now before you ask me, "Can I split up my routine in some way?" Of course you can. But split it up based on what your body DOES, not based on what "part" it is. Splitting up by parts makes as much sense as splitting up by the number of freckles in that area."

good stuff
