I just bought some ice cream and I wasn't thinking. It says that it is made with "Fresh" milk and "Fresh" cream.
Does this mean that it is unpasteurized?

I've heard that if you're pregnant or TTC that you should not have anything that is unpasteurized.

Yes they are, because it's a large brand of dairy product and by law, all dairy products sold under companies names such this one, they have to be pasteurized.

The ''FRESH'' word is only used as marketing B.S. stuff to attract consumers.

You will see in this web add, it say '' Made with REAL CREAM'', of course, tell me what is ''fake cream''?? Bah, just a bunch ways to get consumers into buying their stuff.

Yes, I'm from Canada and my aunt is working for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency for the Government of Canada. Also, I study in Biology field, so I know a little bit about pasteurization.

Milk and Cream have to be pasteurized, as said by Canadian law. However, some cheeses doesn't need to, therefore the importance to check the labels to see in the ingredients list '' pasteurized milk'', if it's not mentionned anywhere, then consider it as not pasteurized. You will mostly find some local cheese maker, sometime the organic ones are not pasteurized. Some people will say that the high heat procedure alter the taste of the product...

However, if you buy milk, ice cream, cream under well known brand/name in, no matter what they say ''Fresh'' or not, you can be at peace. :)
