Does combining PCF in one meal have any effects that will lhinder progress? Or is upping any calories any particular way more important?

My goals are to increase to maintenance to begin with then slowly build muscle then lose the fat from upping. :)

There's no problem with doing that.

This is good to know, as it will help me try to fit it all in..... I find it hard to get all the macros with split meals.

the division exclusively depends on the diet from the period

Thanks everyone :) It IS difficult trying to split them all up appropriately.

Another question, then why do I hear that combining carbs and fats in one meal is bad? Is that just because there's no protein? Or does one inhibit the breakdown of the other?

Oh, "they" say that combining F and C is sooooo bad, because C spikes your insulin, and all that F is shuttled to your fat stores. Maybe true in a very limited sense, but at the end of the day, if you're in a caloric deficit, and you're getting your minimum required protein, you're going to dip into your stored fat.

The only valid reason (IMO) for keeping protein in every meal, is that P is the most satiating nutrient--eating it will help keep you fuller longer.

I always feel sooooo bad when I do combine P/F/C. im glad i read this thread. I wont beat myself up anymore. I usually do it in little quantities of both. (Carbs and fats)

Yes. Ignoring that protien intake also creates an insulin response, and fat can be stored without the presence of insulin.

Ahh, that is great news! I too, have felt a bit guilty if I had all three macros at one sitting!

I'd think we'dve lost a lot of members if that were true

:o huh??? I don't see what is bad or "guilty" about eating well balanced meals and snacks...but that's just me.
I almost ALWAYS eat a combo of carbs/protein/fats with each and EVERY meal/snack that I consume!! and I love it, but again that's just me.
I've tried many different health regimes...etc... and this way of eating is the ONLY one that leaves me energetic, and satisfied.

I'm just a regular person...definitely not into fitness competitions or any modelling aspirations or anything like that.
to each their own

You can combine or not... It's just food and there's no magical combination. You can be successful, either way.

I'd not recommend eating carbs and fat in large amounts together without a protein source, though. But that's obvious.
