I hurt my lower back and doing squats, deadlifts, military press.....seem to not be helping it heal. I went to the doctor, but all they did was tell me all the things that it could be. Anyone do something similar and besides laying off of core moves for awhile any other suggestions? I did this a few weeks ago and during legs yesterday did squats with no weight. I went to bed last night in pain and it is sore this morning.

Stretch, stretch, stretch. Tight hams and hips are quite often the reason for a sore lower back. Check out the comprehensive stretching site in the effective exercise sticky for specific stretching ideas :)

I'm confused. Did you acutally injure yourself, or are you just sore (like DOMS or something).
I did some nerve damage to my back and leg in December of last year, and it still isn't right. My chiropractor did a lot of work on me, and it's much better, but it's still not back to normal.
What kind of pain do you have? Is it getting worse? Does stretching seem to help it at all?

I actually hurt myself doing deadlifts ( I had too much weight and got out of form). :finger: I know I am dumb. It gets better until I tend to do something that tweaks it again. I just want it to get better before I hurt it again. Are you able to do any lifts that actually put weight on your back? Would you suggest going to the chiropractor?

Chiro and Massage will be your best bet. The two work extremely well together.

Oh, snap. That's the same way I hurt mine. I felt something pop, and then like... move across my back. Next thing I know, I'm seeing yellow spots and trying not to puke on people in the gym. I couldn't walk for 2 days, and I could barely even sit down and lie on the bed.
So close... 10lbs from my 200lb goal. In retrospect, I realize that I rounded my back, and I guess it just all went to hell.
I had lots of adjustments and the stimulation stuff where the chiro zaps you with the little gooey pads and electrodes? That was the technical description of that procedure, btw. :ninja: My chiro never gave me a definite answer on what it was, but he talked about sciatica, pinched nerve, etc. Something nerve related, at any rate. It eventually got better on its own, but it's still not 100%.
I'm deadlifting again, but 100lbs lighter. I still a little twinge now and then, and I'm so afraid of reinjuring it, so I don't push it. Stretching has helped, and not being foolishly ambitious on my weights seems to be my only other course of action.

That is exactly what happened to me. I had to crawl home. Okay, I am just going to lay off for a while since I could not even squat the bar without pain yesterday. I guess the leg press will become my new best friend  Thank you so much and I am glad I am not the only one and I am not going to die here! I am going to get into the Chiro and start doing yoga again to stretch out.

I'd go real easy on it. This is the second time I've had nerve problems with my back (the first injury wasn't related to lifting), and I didn't want to rush back into it either time. It seems like these things can go from bad to god-awful in a second. :(

If the muscle is spasming, muscle relaxers help break the cycle. I hope it gets better with just the stretching and chiro, but I feel a ton better after just a night or two of muscle relaxers and stretching.

Stretching and streching often will help back issues, I had some of those issues when I did some power lifting when I was younger and stretching and rest were the only things that made it feel better.
