Has anyone here gotten pregnant after dh had a vasectomy?

My friend just found out she is pregnant 4 years after her dh's vas. He was checked out after too - no swimmers :p The timing of her phone call has me a bit freaked out - my dh had his vas done 2 weeks after by the same surgeon - and I'm late

my friend's sister in law got pregnant about 2 years after her husband's vasectomy.

Well, this is way different, but my dad got a vasectomy reversal and then my mom got pregnant with me

I can safely say I was NOT an accident  (A mistake though? Maybe they feel that way now! )

Odds of me being pregnant are probably close to 0%, seeing as my friend got pregnant. Funny thing is I know I will be sad when my period comes :( Dh and I rushed the vas issue, due to severe postpartum with my last pregnancy. My daugter was only about 10 months old when he had it done. The night before his surgery I was having major doubts. However, I let him go through with it anyway.

Just makes me wonder, why her and not me? When you know the chances of it happening are so slim and you wish it was you, then it happens to someone who doesn't want it to happen... it is frustrating  I'm sure you can relate. When she first called I was thinking to myself that maybe I could be too, then I realized that statistically it is nearly impossible. Unless of course the surgeon was shoddy  I'll probably do a test tomorrow, just to stop kidding myself until af shows up!

Such a stupid whirlwind of irrational emotions

:uuhh: so....does hubby want any more kids? Did he only do it because of your PP?

....you can get those things reversed you know. Not that it is a simple proceedure, or the most fun, or easy to just go get, but they are possible. My dad got his reversed 12 years after he got it done....

Yeah, the pp was the only factor. He couldn't bear to see me go through it again. I'm sure he would have loved to try again for a boy (we have 2 girls). We both waver on the subject. One minute we wish for more, the next we are glad we're done  I don't think we would ever go for the reversal, we would probably consider adoption before we went that route.

Holy crap!! I didn't need to read this. DH had his V 3 years ago, was swimmer free and I'm a few days late. I've already had 4 kids, so this just scares the crud out of me!! Heaven help me if I'm knocked up again...

This is the exact reason I am going for a tubal! I don't care if it is major surgery, I do not want anymore. Same reasons you had yours, very bad ppd. DD is 21 months now, and I am more certain than ever that one is all I want.

Sometimes there is scar tissue, and then wah la. It happens, but not very often.

There was a prechool teacher at my school that it happened to as well. Her dh was tested, then some 1yr late, she found out she was expecting. To them a blessing. THey had 3 girls and got a boy out of it.

I pray that doesnt happen to me, we have 5 boys!

Years ago on Oprah a lady was on who had a tubal, her husband a vasectomy and they STILL got pregnant.
If it's meant to happen, it's gonna happen!

The mother of a freind of mine, after having 11 children, had a tubal...and then had her 12th two years later...I agree, if it's meant to happen, it's gonna happen!

Yeah, I'm in Utah...

My cousin had a vasectomy, and a year later his wife became pregnant. They had a huge fight about it, as he thought there was no chance of the procedure failing. Then he went and got checked, lo and behold, he was, er potent. His motto became: "You can't keep a good man down!"

I do think it is rare for the procedure to fail though.
