Hi everyone,

So, I am wondering how effective these are and if anyone here used one to detect their Lh surge (Luteinizing Hormone) and then got pregnant.

Thing is, my periods are very regular, every 28 days for the past 6 mos since I went of bcp. I am supposed to ovulate on the 21st (14 days from last period and also 14 days until my next one since I have a 28 day cycle) I've read that very regular periods mean you most likely are ovulating.

The past two at home tests I have done say no Lh surge yet, and yes, I am doing them correctly. :) Is the surge usually closer to the ovulation day than I think- like only one day before and the test could be positive tomorrow?

thx!

I haven't used them but the 14 day count you are counting from the starting day of the 1st day of your period right? I was also on a 28 day cycled and would ovulate around day 16 (was a little later for me - everyone is different). So day 21 seems late or your cycle will be longer or your luteal phase is very short.

Good luck :)

Thanks for the reply C-

I got the 14 day suggestion from a friend, who said that was the average length of a luteal phase for all women, but yep, it can vary, so I will just keep testing everyday for it.

Oh and I was saying I ovulate ON the 21st of July, not the 21st day of my cycle- that is the 14th day of my cycle, counting from the first day of my LMP- my peiod began July 8th and should start again on August 4.

While many women do ovualate close to the 14 day mark.. many others are way before that or way after that.
I found thru charting (and using ovulation kits) that I ovulated on the 10th or 11th day one month, and as late as the 18th-20th day another month. The surge will happen about 1-2 days before you actually ovulate.

well good, I will just keep testing daily I guess. No wonder it is so hard for some women to get pg- even when their periods are regular, the ovulation ain't.

Ah OK I misunderstood you :).

Best advice - unless your hubby's sperm count is low - make love every other day ;)

Yep, I was always at about 28 or 29 days for my cycle, but my ovulation varied quite a bit.

(the everyother day thing works well to... ;) )
