View Full Version : Does it matter where the protein is coming from?

In the other thread (that got taken over by other conversations :p ) I mentioned how I can't eat 1g of protein per lb of body weight, because of some digestive issues. But I was thinking...
If I add some yogurt here and there, I can raise it a bit. Still won't be 1g of protein per lb of body weight, but at least a bit higher than what it was. Would yogurt count or is that not complete protein?
Also, the yogurt that I can tolerate is goat's yogurt which doesnt come fat free. Is that OK?

I did. Honestly, I like goat's yogurt much better. How is greek yogurt better? Just because it's so high in protein?
Thanks :)

Have you tried dried cottage cheese. Many people with dairy issues can even use it. Super high protein.

Yes it is high in protein without a lot of carbohydrates.
It is really good with splenda and cinnamon.

Yogourt does contain complete protein.
The fat content doesn't matter. Just make sure to include the fat in your totals. The same goes for the carbs.

Thanks everyone :) Good to know I can keep the yogurt :D
I've tried cottage cheese before, but for some reason it didn't go too well with me. I might try it again sometime, because I LOVE dry curd cottage cheese.

Enteric coated ones? Do they help with your GI issues?
There's a good Q&A in this article on probiotics.

I just got that link in my e-mail from T-nation. What is so weird is that about 19 years ago I went to this holistic doctor for my IBS. They had me taking acidopholis and all these cultures and stuff. Basically saying I had an imbalance in candida in my system. I thought it was all hokey, I was only 18 years old. I guess I should reconsider.

I have no clue how they're coated, but they do have L. aciduphilus and L. bifidus.
