Maybe I'm just being hopeful... I am supposed to get my period on the 4th. I took one of those early result tests today and it was negative. The directions said something like this test will predict pg 2 days before period 85% of the time or something like that.
Anyone take a similar test and have it be wrong?
:) thx

We are on the same schedule! I should be getting my period on the 4th also (although last month it was 2 days late, so maybe I'm now on the 6th.) Anyway, I've been reading a lot about pg tests and their accuracy. From most of what I've read, even the early response ones cannot detect hcg until at least 10 DPO and usually more like 12 - 14 DPO. There's a website called www.peeonastick.com that will tell you more. They also have photos of legitimate positive tests along with some that have evap lines and turn out negative. I am also hoping to be pg this month, so it would be cool to have a pg buddy. Best luck to you!!!

Do you know when you Ovulated? this is more important than when your period is due. Normal tests are suppsed to detect the hcg around 12-14 days post ovulation (because you should have a certain amount of HCG in your urine by then) whereas the early tests an sometimes tell you at 10 days post ovuation. A Positive result in the allowed time is almost ALWAYS right.. rarely is it wrong. A negitive result, however, just means that you are 1) not pregnant or 2)you don't have enough HCG in your urine to make the test turn positive.
Also, always take a pregnancy test 1st thing in the morning - the HCG will be more concentrated then and it will show up earlier on the tests than if you test in the afternoon or night (especially if you drink a lot of water thru the day ;) )
Don't give up. Good Luck.

Hi there! I have noticed your posts for a while now- That would be so fun to have a pg buddy! :) Best of luck to you too!
DPO- is that "date post ovulation"? I have had somewhat regular periods- every 26-30 days to the day for 6 months since I quit the pill in Feb. I know I ovulated on day 16 of my cycle (the 23rd of July) since we were using an ovulation kit this month for the first time and it spiked on that day. 14 days would have been the 21st... so what you say makes me feel a little more hopeful- yesterday would have only been day 11 DPO, so there is still some hope!

thanks so much for your post! Yeah, I did also take in the middle of the day- a bit over eager I guess! It was day 11 past ovulation if my ovulation kit was right (23rd) but I do drink a lot of water, so I will keep my fingers crossed.

With my 2nd, I didn't test + with a 'normal' test until I was 15 or 16 days past ovulation! And even then, it was neg come evening (not that I was testing twice a day  )
I was late, but the tests were neg, but I was indeed pg. It ain't over 'till the hag shows up, LOL!
If you CAN (I know how hard it is..) wait until 13dpo and then use your very first pee of the day (without going all night long) - and use an early type test.. you may be able to see a + if you are pregnant.

I am officially a test-o-holic!! I started testing at probably 8 or 9 DPO, which obviously wouldn't show anything. Now that I'm 11 DPO, I'm testing every day. Good thing I bought my tests for like $0.80 each, or else we'd be bankrupt by now.

Women who are trying to get pregnant are just as crazy as those who are already pregnant - I think.
You just can't stop yourself... you just HAVE to do it. Even once you get that +, you will have 2 or 3 tests left in the cabinet and you will just HAVE to test for the next 2 days to be sure the first one was right... seems logical, right :p

The spike that you saw on the ovulation kit happens 12 -48 hours before you actually ovulate.. so yesterday may have only been 9 DPO given that window... you may still have some time to wait. Isn't the waiting just torture!?
edit: wooo ... where did your post go.. ???

Yep, I got mine from Amazon.com, but I think you can also get them from at-home-pregancy-tests.com (spelled just like that.)

I was in denial with my last(4th) baby and must have taken one everyday for over a week!! I swore that the`first + test had to be an evap line. But everyday that line got darker. DH and I even lined the tests up and took a photo to remind us of how psycho I was!! I could not believe DH had knocked me up again!! He must have some powerful swimmers!
