I've been lurking on these boards for a while, and I'm so happy to report that I can to ATG squats with my bodyweight! About 2 months ago I couldn't do a deep ATG squat due to flexibility issues. I've been stretching my hip flexors and IT band, and trying little by little to go deep using my body weight. (I also stopped using my trainer, who kept on with the "knees over toes" and "squat with the Smith machine")

So it's been 2.5 weeks that I've been using my bodyweight and it's incredible how I have no knee issues. Now, is it my mind playing tricks on me, or does my butt look rounder? My abs are sore from just doing squats. I cannot WAIT to start squatting with some weight. Tonight I tried to squat just with the bar and I was shaky and my form was off. I really have to pay attention to my form due to my extremely flat feet. I have to consciously readjust my heels or my toes point way out, and I tend to put my weight on my heels and want to fall backwards, not forwards like I've read alot of folks do on this board.

What an incredible exercise, what an incredible board. Thank you everyone!

one of my fav exercises! Glad to hear you were able to do them, and even more impressive you in a progressive smart way.

as for butt- yes rounder (ie glute muscles)- abs are sore from recrutting them as a core stabilizer during lifts.

Keep up the great work!!!! :flex:

Good for you on all accounts.

You should be putting your weight on your heels, because you need to push on them on the way up. Keep working on your technique and you'll eventually get there.
