I'm having some issues stomaching some foods right now. Especially beef and olive oil. I'd like to use different fats to replace the olive oil. The only way I can eat it is if I cook foods in it (like zuccini) but then I cant actually measure how much I'm getting of it. My meals w/ oil usually have 1 or 2 teaspoons but fitday only has tablespoon option. So heres what I got:

Olive Oil : .5 Tablespoon 60 cals, 7g fat
Peanut Butter: 1 Tablespoon 94 cals, 6g of fat
Almonds: .5 oz 82 cals, 7g of fat
Pecans: .5 oz 98 cals, 10g of fat
Cheese: 1 oz 95 cals, 7g of fat

So...does that mean that I can replace 1 teaspoon of olive oil with a TBSP of PB or .5 oz of almonds. And that 2 tsp of olive oil can be replaced with .5 oz of pecans and 1.5 oz of cheese? Does that sound right?

And for the beef I got:

Top Round 3 oz 112 cals, 19g protein
Chicken Breast 4 oz 106 cals, 18g protein

So, wherever beef is called for if I eat chicken and add 1 oz it should work out, right?

Look at the calories before you look to the macros.

As far as the Tbsp vs. tsp., there are 3 teaspoons in 1 tablespoon. So if Fitday gives calories for 1 Tablespoon and you only use 1 teaspooon, just divide by 3.

Thanks guys!! :)

Ok, so one tablespoon is 120 cal, 14g of fat.
One teaspoon is: 40 cals, 4.5g of fat. Two teaspoons: 80 cals, 9g of fat.

So almonds would be the best substitution for 1 tsp since they are low cals?

IMO - 5 or 6 almonds would be an ok sub. for 40 calories of olive oil

As for as PB/Olive oil and fitday. you can use the Tablespoon option, but just plug in .5 or .25 , or whatever amount you use, and the computer will add for you.

Does that answer your question?

When I cook w/ olive oil ( I love roasted veggies!!) I have to make enough for my hubby, son and me. I always round up how much I think I may have used. for instance if I use 1.5T for the whole dish, I count cals for 1T. You never know for sure, but I'd rather over than under estimate how much I ate.

Bla Bla Bla. I rambled. sorry

Coconut oil is great for cooking - heat doesn't destroy it like it does olive oil. And it has a delicious scent and flavour - kinda smells like movie theatre popcorn (that's the oil they use). And since it comes in a semi-soft solid, it's easy to measure out.
