I paid 150 for mine 3 years ago from the hair salon. I forget the brand, when I get home Ill let you know. It came with a lifetime warranty.

it makes me hair shiny smooth and heats up in under a minute. 1 "

..........Ill be home in a few hours, post then.

CHI are supposed to be the best but they are expensive.

I got a really good one off ebay - a one inch with ceramic plates. It gets super hot and makes my hair smooth and shiny. I can't remember the brand but it was similar to a CHI.

You should check out ebay. :)

I have a Solono Sapphire, which I love. I have the wide one, but they do offer narrower ones.

I also know people RAVE about the Chi? Cia? Chia? Something like that.

Thanks Jen

I paid $100 for my last...can't remember what brand it is but...it didn't last as long as I'd liked...it blew one of the heating elements and now it doesn't stay hot for long

A few people I went to school with have the Chi (or whatever it is) and they love it! Their hair was always very straight and healthy looking (soft and silky).

I had a gift card for Bed Bath and Beyond and used it towards the purchase of my flat iron. It's the Maxius - but unforunately it's one of the "fat" ones, Leah.

http://www.maxiusbeauty.com/product.php?cat=21

I haven't used it with the steam feature, but I really like the results I get with this. The one I had previously was a cheapie from Target and it really dried my hair out.

Good luck!

This site looks like it might have some good information (although I just skimmed through...):

$100 and it didn't last long??? The steam from my ears would be enough to flatten my hair (if it wasn't already stick straight that is... )

So you all have naturally curly or wavy hair, and choose to straighten it? I would kill for a little body to my hair. But I guess it's fun to have options too...

I have a Revlon ceramic flat iron I got at Target. It was abot $25US. I have curly hair and works really well. I can't use the ones w/ steam, I will frizz like crazy.

Chi is the best one I have ever used.

I have the HAI brand, the beauty supply place recommend it and said it was as good as CHI but a but cheaper. I paid $100 for it about 3 years ago. It's very hot, the temp goes up to 400 degrees.

I've had my Babyliss straightener since 1998...still works like a charm. But with the ceramics now on the market I bought once again a Babyliss iron...they came in both the wide and narrow plates. Very good and reasonably priced for salon products imo. I have very thick and wavy hair and since I've been using the ceramic iron I've cut down on straightening time a ton with the ceramic.

I bought mine from Gene Juarez because the Connair one I got at Rite Aid wouldn't straighten my hair (I have naturally curly hair and very hard to straighten) . . . I don't know the brand name of it, but it cost nearly $100.00 but such a good investment. So if something happened to it I'd probably go back and get another one from them or from another well established salon. Costly, but better quality in my opinion.

Does anyone else have a problem with hair getting caught and pulling in the iron? No matter what size or brand I get, this always happens to me!

Sometimes....but that usually only happens when I'm haphazard about it...lol...if I go in sections it's usually fine

Does anyone else's iron get gunky from hair products? How do you avoid that and how do you clean it if it does?

Dreamer

It does happen all the time when I use a Flat Iron, there is always some gunky stuff left on it. I don't know how to avoid this, but the best way is to clean with a specific ceramic soap, if your flat iron is made out of ceramic. Those one they normally use for a ceramic kitchen counter.

BTW, I have Paul Brown flat iron, I have it for about five years and absoluty love it!!

Sorry, made me chuckle.

I use a curling iron when I straighten my hair.

I clean my ceramic straightner with a soft tooth brush and warm soapy water. It's non-abrasive and does a good job.

Don't laugh, but I actually like my Remington Wet to Straight steam ceramic iron.
It's pretty cheap at Target, but works surprisingly well. I have very thick wavy hair and it makes it stick straight and super soft.

With my old one this always happened to me, I think I probably have a little bald spot from all the hair I yanked out

The new one I have is amazing, it doesn't really have any edges for your hair to get caught in. I'll check to see what brand I have when I get home.

I am a Chi girl. I got mine from my day spa/salon for $140, but I bought the same one brand new from ebay for $70 for my sister in law (the one I like). My hair stylist says not to use anything over the 1" ceramic paddle because the heat isn't even all over, plus there's a higher chance of burning your hair off since it has more exposure to the actual high heat.

Those things curl your hair pretty wickedly too, as well as put a wave in. Love the thing.

I can't say I've gotten my hair stuck with the Chi ones, I used to when I used the cheap ones. We won't talk about "the incident" with a curling iron a couple years back though.....

Nope, that certainly was not a chi. They were just selling a chi styling product, not a chi straightener.

Yes....it's soooooooo much better than my other one. My only complaint is that it's an inch and a half and I wanted an inch...but for that price I sucked it up :p
