The muscles that run along my inner thighs. I have spent alot of time sitting with the bottoms of my feet together trying to increase flexibilty here but what ended up happenning is I must have pulled the muscle because I couldn't do lunges or any movement like that without a sharp pain up my inner thoigh all the way to my pubic bone. How can I increase flexibility here without hurting myself? Are there other stretches I can do?

ditto.
A looong time ago I was very inflexible....
(I mean years back) I just started stretching every night, and eventually I was able to do the splits-middle and the easy ones.
Anyway, I've somehow retained the flexibility even though I no longer stretch like I should.
Anyway, stretch...it'll come.

Foam roll the adductors and check out our Magnificent Mobility DVD (http://www.magnificentmobility.com); people have had great results with the squat-to-stand, walking spiderman, and a few other movements.

Stretching Scientifically, by Thomas Kurz. Best thing on stretching I've ever read. And he has lots of pics of people doing those Van Damme splits (with only their ankles supported) to prove that his system works.
Basically, it's very likely that you'll need to develop some strength in your inner thigh muscles before they'll get more flexible.

ok, what are adducters? Thanks for suggestions everyone I will start stretching more right away, maybe I tried to do too much too fast? I think you may be right Char, i probably need to develop more strength in my inner thighs...how do I do that? Does squats, and lunges take care of that?
Thanks :)

Kurz recommends lying on your back and opening and closing your legs while holding them straight. Sets of 20 or so. If that's not enough resistance for you, use ankle weights.
When you do this, be sure to have video taken and post it so that we can, uh, check your form.
