In an ideal world, I would regularly check the announcements, yes. But I barely have time to check into my journal and still maintain a real life. I will have to smarten up and reprioritize more board time into my schedule, i see.

The first move was to go to our own board (IF to vB). Fine and dandy. Except bdd814 is the biggest postwhore ever, and we kept crashing their servers...sooooooooooo.....we've moved to a new server.

In a few days you will be able to access the board normally via your bookmarks, until then...use the IP address like I said.

We've only lost a day's worth of posts...I know it seems like a lot since everyone's such freaking post whore's...but really...it's only one day :p

I am not quite understanding what the problem is....do we just get too much traffic for servers to handle,is it a cost factor or what?

As it turns out your host is affording you a low cost by only allowing you to use so much of a single CPU. Granted we don't know how many cpu's this box has, but I assume you are only allow to use 1/5 of on processor. Instead of forcing you onto a dedicated server in order to satisfy the needs of other clients they can actually manage how the computing resources you use. Now keep in mind cpu time is not something that you use up for the month or even day. Just means that too many things are going on at once and you have to wait until the cpu usage dies down. I don't know exactly what scripts you are running but it seems there is something active that is using much more cpu time than normally high traffic. I'd ask MIX what he thinks of vBulletin and what possible fixes for this would be as it might just be likely that it is not a function of your high traffic, but rather inefficent scripts like the error message sugests.
