I have some 7% max fat, extra extra lean groung beef. The package doesn't have the nutritional info on it, and all the websites for nutritional data seem to only have info for 10% max fat or greater. Does anyone have this specific data or possibly a reference to direct me to?

Would a safe estimate for my beef be an average of those macro totals?

Close enough, I suppose, until you find something more accurate.

Yeah I would just average them.

If you drain all the fat off after you cook say, 75% lean ground beef, does that make it comprable to like 85 or 90%? It's way cheaper and quite easy to just drain all the fat off.

mine says
2 oz. = cal. 85, fat 4, carbs 0, protein 11.5

I have wondered this aswell. I have also been known to rinse mine ground beef too. Sorry, no answer for you.

Re: reducing fat content of ground beef
I saw THIS ARTICLE (http://www.wisc.edu/foodsafety/assets/pdf_Files/Reducing%20Fat%20in%20Ground%20Beef.pdf) the other day...it might help answer your question.

I went back to the store today and found a brand with the nutritional data on the package. SPB131's info matches it exactly.

Great to know! I've been rinsing my ground beef for my pasta sauces for years. I'm glad to know that it's truly worth the effort!

Thanks for the article! Good to know that rinsing my ground beef before I use it not only saves me the fat but saves me the $$ as well....

Thansk Grace girl, I have been rinsing my ground beef for years and my hubby though I was crazy!! I will be passing this info along for sure. But I wonder, I dont blot before I drain. I wonder if it makes a huge diffrence. I'm guessing if you are rinsing it (I do it until the water runs clear)it would be pointless to blot. But then they did it for a reason, Right?
